Biography

She was baptized on 13 Oct 1644 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut and was the daughter of Margaret and Edward Griswold (the immigrant). [1]

Mary Griswold married on 19 March 1661 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut to Timothy Phelps (1639-1719), son of Ann (Dover) and William Phelps [1] (1607-1690). They had twelve children, all born at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. [1]

Her husband made his Will on 02 March 1716 [1] which named his wife Mary, his sons Timothy, William, Cornelius, Samuel, Nathaniel, heirs of Joseph (deceased); and his daughters Sarah, Hannah, Ann, Martha, and heirs of Abigail (deceased). [1] Timothy's Will was proven on 06 Oct 1719. [1]

Research Notes

There is considerable confusion on LDS FamilySearch about Mary. It seems, perhaps, that she and her sister Dorothy married either brothers or men with the same first name. I think I have Mary sorted out. Haven't started on Dorothy. THB

Griswold-32 Mary Griswold Phelps couldn't have died 27 Nov 1715 because she was named in her husband's 1717 will. I will visit Palisado Cemetery and see what I can find there.

Griswold-1824 and Griswold-32 appear to represent the same person because: Please agree to merge these duplicate profiles for the daughter of Edward Griswold. Thanks!
