Biography

Marie Anne Nastazie Naquin died young.

Marie Anne Nastazie was born about 1741. She is the daughter of Francois Naquin and Angelique Blanchard. The family lived in Anse a Pinet, Isle Saint Jean in 1752, having moved there two years prior from mainland Acadie. Marie Anne would have been their first child born there. [1]

Marie Anastasie and her family were among the 1033 Acadians who were put aboard one of five English ships that left Isle Saint-Jean and Ile Royale in the fall of 1758, and disembarked at Saint-Malo in France on January 23, 1759. Only 538 of the passengers survived the harsh conditions aboard the vessels. Sadly, her parents François and Angélique, as well as her siblings François and Ursule, died at the hospital a few days after they disembarked. The two youngest children Marie-Anne 8, and Marguerite 6, died at sea during the crossing. [2]

She died a few months after arriving in France, on 9 April 1759, in Saint-Malo.
