Biography

Joseph Savoie was born on March 11, 1717 in Annapolis Royal, Acadie, Nova Scotia Colony, son of Germain Savoie and Geneviève Babineau. He was baptized the next day. His godparents were Pierre La Noue and Jeanne Gautrot, widow of La Noue.[1]

Joseph (27) married Marie Joseph Bourg (20) (born in Annapolis Royal, Colony of Nova Scotia; daughter of Joseph Bourg and Louise Robichaud) on February 6, 1745 in Annapolis Royal, Acadie. [2] The witnesses were: Pierre Savoye, Aman Savoye, Joseph Bourg, and Joseph Lanoue.

Their children, all born in Annapolis Royal, were: [3]

  1. Marie Josephe Savoie (~1746– )
  2. Joseph Savoie (1747–<1850)
  3. Jean Baptiste Savoie (1750-)
  4. Marie Josephe Savoie (1752-1754)

Joseph died before 1760, perhaps in MIramichi, Acadie where the family had sought refuge while fleeing roundups by the soldiers. His widow was recorded on a census in Restigouche in 1760 with 6 children. [4] The family settled in New Brunswick after the end of the war in 1763. [5]

Savoy-736 and Savoie-1356 appear to represent the same person because: Same name. Same birthdate and source. Same parents (fathers will need a. merge). Same son (who will need a merge). No conflicting information.
