Biography

Veronica, a.k.a. Verony, Fronecke, or Fronegg, [See research notes on maiden name] is believed to have been born about 1675 near Gemmingen in what is now the German state of Baden-Württemberg and to have married Georg Philip Dodderer about 1696 in Gemmingen or in nearby Stebbach.

They immigrated to Pennsylvania with their children sometime before December 1722, when they bought land in what later became Montgomery County.[1] On May 9, 1736, "Philip Doder" and his wife, [Veronica], served as sponsors for the baptism of their granddaughter, Fronegg (Veronica) Zimmerman, daughter of Anna and Michael Zimmerman, at Goshenhoppen Church, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.[2]

Philip died in 1741 and Veronica survived him by about 11 years. Her will, written 8 June 1751 in German and probated 9 December 1752, mentions 5 living children and one son and one daughter who had preceded her in death.[3] The English transcription of "Verony"s words states she was "now pretty old". The court appointed her son, Michael, as administrator after her death. Three living sons signed her estate papers, each using a different spelling of the family name: Michel Dotterer, Barnabas Dodderer, & Conrad Duddarer.

Veronica died 20 October 1752 in Frederick Township, Philadelphia County , Pennsylvania (became Montgomery County in 1784) and was buried in Leidig's Burial Ground.[citation needed]

Children

Annette Burgert attributes 7 children born to Veronica and Georg Philip Dodderer between 1697 and 1712, noting that the names had been transferred into a Stebbach Church Book that was opened in 1708, with a notation that the earlier baptism dating from 1675 on were entered into this new Taufbuch from an older one.[4] Two additional children appear in records in Pennsylvania, though it's possible they could be alternate names for the children whose baptisms were recorded in the church registers at Stebbach.

Research Notes

Maiden Name

Heated discussions about Veronica's maiden name proliferate online family trees. Schleipfer and Bucher are two prevalent contenders, though no primary source documents substantiating either candidate have been made publicly available.

Schleipfer-1 and Schleipfer-2 appear to represent the same person because: She is a duplicate wife. If we just removed place of birth for the merge the details can be researched and added back with a source. .
Schleipfer-2 and Schleipfer-1 are not ready to be merged because: Again the place of birth does not match, the date of birth does not match, and other research on the children needs to be completed.

Schleipfer-2 and Schleipfer-1 appear to represent the same person because: The only major differance I see is that Schleipfer-1 has Barnabus Dotterer Sr and Conrad Dotterer while Scheipfer-2 does not. merge and add the above 2 children

Until yesterday, two of the children matched. Proposed merged for multiple children of this family had gone to default approval, and I merged the 2 profiles for her son Conrad. I left a note on his profile indicating that the two profiles for the mother still needed to be merged. (The formatting on that note is funny, so I'll go fix it now.)

Schleipfer-2 and Schleipfer-1 are not ready to be merged because: Only one of the children match. The birth dates and birth location are too different. More research needs to be completed to be sure that they are the same person.

Schleipfer-2 and Schleipfer-1 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. Same husband, same death data, some of the same children. No parental conflicts.

Anna Veronica and Veronica Anna are variations of the same name. Discrepancies in birth location are discussed in biography text as uncertainty in the birth location. Differences in birthdates are different guesses...
