Egbert Hendrickse Schoonmaker "was born at Fort Orange, and married October 13, 1683 [at the Reformed Dutch Church, Kingstong, Ulster, New York], Annatje, daughter of Samuel Berry. He settled in the neighborhood of Rochester. In 1700 he was Captain of a troop of horse in the Ulster County regiment commanded by Col. Jacob Rutzen." [1][2] In 1684 he signed a petition at Kingston requesting the governor to allow a local court in place of appointed magestrates.[3] He died between 1716 and 1738.
