Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.
Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

Hi everyone thank-you for the opportunity to contribute and receive information that will help me in my search. I am looking for information re my fathers family (Joseph Edward) Shambrook and his mothers family originally (Mabel) Richardson from Stalybridge in Lancashire. She was a nurse and came to Sydney Australia sometime between 1910-1915. They lived in Wallangarra NSW/Qld for the period 1915-1936. I am also looking for ancestors on my mothers side who are Callinan's who lived in the Laidley Qld area. Australia area and Isobel Maud Gordon her mother who married my grandfather Andrew Edward Callinan in 1926 in Qld. I have contacted you Jane Lynch as you are managing a page which provides some details of my mothers parents. I have additional information that will help. Thanks
A warm welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!
Here are some other suggestions for you to explore:
1. Our Help pages have all sorts of useful information and feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum.
2. Our Honor Code is a very important part of why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree so please take some time to read it.
3. Explore the Family Tree & Tools tab at the top of your profile.
What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research youd like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, youll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
