Biography
Jacob married 1 Jantje Joosts Bart of Opperdoes on april 19 1860 in Andijk. Apparently no children.
Jacob married 2 Cornelia Dooitzas Meinsma from Harlingen, Friesland on Jan 29 1914 in Andijk.
Jacob was known as being thrifty. Jacob was also called Tall Jaap. According to Vrije Westfriezen II (chapter 13), Jaap was open minded. He would visit with Baas Hamer on occasion, even though they had theological differences. He also was willing to be in conversation with a distant cousin Wouter Reijersz Sluys from Beemster who wasn't a Christian. This Wouter was an innovator and enterpreneur; he believed that people were becoming better and "righteous" on their own and that all war and evil would soon disappear. Jaap respectfully contradicted this in the book without sounding narrow minded or condemning and even visited one of his modern factories, saying it was a worthwhile facility. Soon after Jan Mazereeuw died in 1855, Tall Jaap had an argument with the leaders there and joined the Gereformeerde Kerk instead. He soon became an elder there. It's possible that some or all of this information is mixed up with Jacob's cousin Jacob Cornelisz Sluijs.
