Biography

JEAN BAPTISTE AUCOIN is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana, Plaque 11 Right, La Ville d'Archangel. Listed with him is his wife Marguerite Theriot and five children: Marie, Jean Baptiste, Rose Magdelaine, Rose Anastasie and Pierre. [1]

Marguerite Terriot, daughter of Charles Thériot and Françoise Landry, was born about 1729, married about 1757 to Jean Aucoin; seven children listed (1st two born in England). She and husband and two children disembarked at St. Malo from England on 23 May 1763 from the ship "La Dorothee." They resided in the parish of Plouer between 1763-1773.[2][3]

    Text: On the Role of the Acadian families embarked on the royal frigate “La Dorothee,” under Captain LAVENANT, who acknowledged receiving them on 17 May 1763, to be delivered to Saint Malo, France. There are 45 numbered families, plus six prisoners of war from Bristol.
