Biography

Travis studied Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech University before dropping out to join the US Air Force, where he studied Electrical Engineering and worked for the Communications Squadron at Yokota AFB, Tokyo. Since then he has studied British Literature, Television Journalism, Film Criticism, and Film Production and worked in Finance, Charitable Fundraising, TV and Film.

Currently lives in West Los Angeles, California.

Travis can be contacted at icloud.com by making his first name, the letter B, and his last name into one word for the emailing address.

Recently discovered he's a 5th cousin of Presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams on his father's side and is the 6th grand-nephew of Governor James Garrard who helped found the State of Kentucky and tried to being it in as a Free (non-Slave) State.

Has traced his surnames of Fields, Burke, Clark, Day, Lawrence and Adams a very long way back into England. The Field and Burke surnames appear to go all the way back to Norman France.

Has a Fields family e-book published by a Mr. Frederick Pierce which is not 100% accurate, however it's the best book about the Fields family currently available and it's very comprehensive and interesting. This download link may still work:

http://www.ebooksread.com/authors-eng/frederick-clifton-pierce/field-genealogy-being-the-record-of-all-the-field-family-in-america-whose-ance-rei.shtml

He is quite certain his Adams ancestors descend from the same Adams family of Barton St. David in England which President John Adams stemmed from.

He discovered that the Fields connection to President Jefferson comes from John "the Astronomer" Field who was given a unique coat of arms for his contributions to English Astronomy after he wrote 2 books on Copernican Astronomy which were instrumental in introducing those concepts to England. Astronomers were also Astrologers in those days and it's been said he was Astrologer to the Queen.

On his mother's side, his earliest known ancestor was a Johan Frederic Zimmerman who sailed to America from Rotterdam and landed in Philadelphia on 19 Sep 1764. Johan was said to be from Wolluria, Germany however no such place exists so his true origin is a mystery. However Wallonia, Belgium had a large German population at that time and it's close to Rotterdamn, so it's a good candidate for his home.

Travis took a DNA test from Ancestry which at the end of 2021 showed:

34% Scotland, 23% Ireland, 22% England and NW Europe 10% Wales, 6% Norway, 5% Sweden and Denmark

BUT Ancestry's results have changed at least 4 times since 2017!

2 previous results showed:

38% England and Northwestern Europe (Norman France, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland) 36% Scotland, 15% Ireland, 9% Norway, 2% Wales

58% England, Wales & Northwestern Europe 35% Ireland & Scotland 3% Germanic Europe 3% Sweden 1% Norway

...and that's not even getting into the 1st result Ancestry gave which surprisingly showed almost 10% Mediterranean and Near Eastern ancestry.

The Fields family folklore includes at least 2 Native Americans (update: I'm 99% certain the father of Isaac Newton Fields was a Native American), however all of the Ancestry DNA results show 0% Native ancestry.

So either the family trees are wrong or I got all the White People genes :-D

Y'all take care now...

Hello Travis,

Please post the results of your DNA test(s). Did you have your Y-DNA analyzed? The Fields family is very interesting and I believe that this is my brother's male line as well. N.B. We have no verifiable Italian ancestry on our father's side.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz, Travis!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.

You have an interesting page with tags indicating many projects. I see you are still adding ancestors.

I suggest you check this pre-1700 list: Pre-1700 Projects list, located at the top of your page, 4th topic on right, under <Find> and <Projects>.

For questions, just ask on my page.

Mary ~ Pre-1700 Greeter

PS If "Page Not Found" error occurs in your email, check your page for this message.
