I was born and raised in California, and still live there. I am a retired payroll specialist. I also have a Ph.D. in ancient Near Eastern languages from UC Berkeley (I can read them but not speak them...).
I've been interested in my family's history since I was young, but this was before internet (well, before personal computers!) so I couldn't really do any research, other than to sit down with my grandmothers and write down what they knew of their parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, in-laws, etc. etc. They told me quite a lot, and it's turned out to be 99% accurate now that I'm able to look up the records. I joined Wikitree so that I can make this information available to others, as well as to learn more about my own family.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, collaborating with the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
The Puritan Great Migration Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn how to collaborate with the project members.
