I was born on June 7, 1949, in Phenix City, Alabama, the third of 10 children of Jesse Radcliff Whitehurst and Mary Ellen Cook. My parents were living in Columbus, Georgia, but mother's doctor practiced in the Phenix City Hospital so I am the only child in my family not born in Georgia. My parents moved to Griffin, Georgia, when I was about four and I have spent most of my life in Griffin.

Hey Michael. Thanks for all the work you are doing for the Whitehursts. I wanted to let you know that I'm releasing myself as manager of many of the Whitehurst profiles that are not directly in my line. Due to health issues, I'm not able to do any further work on them and you are welcome and invited to adopt them and take them over. Have fun!

Sure, if you don’t have a strong connection. He’s my 5th great-grand uncle.

Hello Michael,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans as it explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. You may also want to go through the new member help on How to manage your Watchlist.

Hello Michael,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
