Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
anyone who shares the same genealogical or historical interests.
My family tree is private but I want to collaborate on deep ancestors or historical figures.
I descend from early Kentucky pioneers in every branch of my tree. Specifically Bourbon, Harlan, Nelson and Meade Counties.
Would you mind to reset the privacy settings for Uncle Andrew Ritchie's children? I think they can be put on an open setting since they are deceased.
Thanks,
Todd
Which Uncle Andrew? haha I can't find Uncle Andrew. I think you mean Leander Andrew? Somehow he was set as still living --I think I fixed that before I saw this message, or is there another Uncle Andrew?
Hey there Laurie. I was wondering if the leader and coordinators for the Kentucky Project usually take a while to respond. I put a request to join over a week ago, actually two requests. I thought the first didn't go through. But I've had no response. The other projects get back in a much more timely fashion and I was just wondering if the Kentucky group is just slower paced. Thanks for any feedback.
We need the Kentucky Project Members to join the Kentucky Genealogical Society's WikiTree Challenge! We are going for the record.... over 500 new profiles!
We just started a new project on WikiTree: the Appalachia Project and we would love to have you join us. Since you are already working on profiles in Appalachia it wouldn't add to your WT work. Just a sticker and a category, here and there. To join, review the Project page, pick a regional team (or teams) and answer the G2G Membership post.
Oh thank you, but I am already not doing enough in the USBH and New Netherland projects, sadly. I am working to understand your goals and am glad to do the stickers and categories when and where I can. Have already added a few on my Harlan, Kentucky kinfolk! Liz Shifflett helped me via email with the templates. I will review your project pages.
Thanks for your nice message. How funny for your mom to ask if you knew Cheryl Furlong or me! In addition to being my dad's first cousin, Cheryl is also my godmother. If my grandmother was still alive she could take us right to the Ritchie home. Unfortunately my recollection of it is a little vague as it's been over three decades since I've been. If I come across anything pinning it down precisely I'll be sure to pass it along to you. My great-grandmother Mima aka Miami died a year and a half before I was born and her husband moved in with my grandmother so I got to know him well over the years. I remember him saying multiple times, "That boy has a lot of Ritchie in him." Funny the things you remember.
My mother remembers staying with Mima while her three sisters were in the hospital having their tonsils out. She thinks she was about five years old, and remembers that Aunt Mima was very sweet, loving and affectionate. That would have been mid 1940's.
First of all who are you with your prolific genealogy output? Today is 7/23/23 and my name is George Robertson in Louisville, Ky. and I saw your entry on Sterling Robertson on Wikitree. I am a direct descendant of Sterling's brother, Fleming, and my brickwall ancestor is their father, Samuel(1744-1817). My quest is to find for sure where he was born(Scotland or Va.) and for sure who his parents were. I know he was involved with the Hardin family in an Indian attack on the Ohio River on 3/20/1780 while flatboating down the river from Pa. He eventually settled in Springfield, Ky and died about 1818. Please contact me at [email address removed] if you have any info. George
Oh, that sounds similar to the mystery of my 5th ggrandfather, John Ritchie! Hahaha.
I'm sorry, I don't have anything more at this time. I am just meandering through my mother's side, trying to make sense of it all. I also live in Louisville. Did you ask Todd Whitesides for help? He has waaay more material and experience than I.
Laurie
Thanks for the heads up on categorization. I'll take a look and brush up on it. My grandmother Lou used to take me to St Martin's when we would visit Meade County. I have some old photos of it from her collection. I have one of the Ritchie clan after a funeralthat has your Charles and my Miami in it. Another is of Miami and Issie standing by their parents' headstone. I'm trying to get up to speed with WikiTree's formatting and protocol. It's different from every platform I've used before. I've been aboard for almost six weeks now. Stay in touch.
Thanks for transferring management of my grandmother's profile. I really appreciate you taking the time to look into this. I'm still getting my primary family tree that isn't already on WikiTree added. Looking forward to digging deeper into all that WikiTree offers once I get this initial batch of information added. Thanks for all that you've already done.
Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.
The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.
To find other potential relatives, continue adding sourced profiles for other lines until you can connect on all branches. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.
Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.

Thank you for completing the merge of Susanna Bryan (Hayden-4339) and Susan Bryan (Hayden-1292) for me! I appreciate all of your contributions. I am a descendant of Jesse Alvey (1730 - 1803) and William Hayden (abt. 1737 - abt. 1794). Those two family names weave in and out through our entire family tree. I am interested in our Maryland history and the "Kentuck Migration" and I am entering information gained from years of research provided by my late cousin, Robert Lee Alvey, Sr in his published work "The Alvey Family of England, Maryland, and Kentucky". This project has become an obsession with me, I am addicted.
Very well done on your making 1,000 or more contributions to WikiTree in June 2019! We commend and appreciate all of your time and effort in helping to grow and perfect our Shared Tree. Keep up the great work!
I attempted to merge Rev Steele's pages (the older was the other one). It would not let me. It made it an unmerged match. I copied everything over to the older one and it wouldn't. We'll see what it takes.
Thank you for noticing the addition of the Cane Ridge Meeting House Cemetery. I took a number of pictures out there. Have you looked at the Cane Ridge Meeting House page yet? The Cemeteries Project doesn't want a lot of pictures on the actual cemetery page so I was adhering to that. I don't usually work with that project but the CRMH Shrine is so captivating! And we have a family friend that had ancestors that attended that church back in the day. I don't have all of the tombstones photographed yet but we have been out twice now to wander through the Shrine and the cemetery. It's so beautiful and peaceful there!
Laurie, the way to reconcile the apparent conflicts regarding the identity of Durse-2 or Shuck-271 is to document your information in the text of the affected profiles, citing reliable sources. This can be done in the Biography section, or you may want to create a "Research Notes" section in the text of the profile to describe your information and explain how you are interpreting it.
HI Laurie, You will no doubt notice I have been removing the Dutch Roots Project template from the Banta and Shuck profiles in Kentucky. I was mistaken in thinking they fit into the Dutch Roots project. (MY BAD) I am correcting my mis-guided intentions. Thanks for your patience.
Would you mind to reset the privacy settings for Uncle Andrew Ritchie's children? I think they can be put on an open setting since they are deceased. Thanks, Todd

Your Samuel is an orphaned profile. I found the above.
Thanks for your help with my Antje Banta, question. You have been helpful beyond belief! Van Order-31

I love your bio! That is awesome that you are honoring Elsa by recording her hard work. What a great legacy!
So your great-grandfather was only twelve miles from Paris. We're over by Cynthiana so not far from there.
