We're currently in Hispanic Heritage month in the US, so we're celebrating our Hispanic Heroes in the Connection Finder this week starting with Simón Bolívar, liberator of of the present-day nations of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia.

Here are other heroes to check your connection to:

Which one is most closely connected to you? If you're one of the 27.2 million of us who are connected to each other on our big tree you can check with the Connection Finder.

Special Feature: Check out how you're connected to other Notables, such as Venezuelan notables, Trailblazing women, and Activists and Reformers using the green MyConnections button in the upper right hand corner of these category pages.

Let us know how you're related below. If you want to share your connection on social media with cousins and friends, click the "get shareable image" below the results, e.g. Olivia Newton-John and  Simón Bolívar. Then just upload it along with the URL of your direct connection. (Please refrain from sharing your connection on the featured profiles themselves, though. It clutters conversations on research and collaboration. Thanks!)

Help us with next week's Re-mark-able Marks feature by helping to choose and improve profiles for it.

Kind of dilute kindred, but 17th cousins 5x removed with cousin Lola.

Dolores (Rodríguez de Astudillo y Ponce de León) Rodríguez de Tió (1843-1924) and Mary Gossage are both descendants of Fernando Alfónsez (Castilla) de Castilla (1201-1252).

Well, I'm certainly laughing about this surprise because Cousin Lola is a descendant of Ponce de León.  I still recall how fascinating it was to learn the history of explorers of the "New World" - in 5th grade!  I was particularly impressed with Ponce de León . . . so I checked our connection.  He is a 6th cousin 16 times removed - one of my favorite Hispanic Heros.

And his 9th Great Grandaughter is impressive too!
"a poet, an advocate for the abolition of slavery, the support of women's rights, and the independence of Puerto Rico from Spain, and she is a descendant of Ponce de León"

I didn't expect to have any connections on this list, but it seems I have a cousin, Delores. I had to check out where this line came to me through, & surprise, not, it came through my mother's, mother's Lawson line. At least this 1 wasn't a Higgenbothem connection.
