Richard held lands in Staffordshire, including at Checkley, Patshall, and Hopton in the parish of St Mary's, Stafford.[1][2]
Richard was accused of felonies in 1421/2.[1][2] In 1424 he sued his mother's third husband, John Savage, and secured her share of the manor of Alstonefield, Staffordshire.[1][2]

In 1446 John Savage, his half-brother, successfully sued Richard for the manor of Rushton Spencer, a rent on lands in Draycote, property in Teen, and the advowson of Checkley - all places in Staffordshire.[1][2][4]
In 1451 he inherited Knightley and Little Wyrley, Staffordshire from his cousin Joan Peshale.[1][2]
