Biography

Daniel was born in 1934. Daniel Perin ... [1]

This profile is a collaborative work-in-progress. Can you contribute information or sources?

I have been interested in my ancestry since I was in high school, mainly due to my uncle’s research into our family since its arrival at Braintree, MA August 10, 1635. In 1933 my uncle, Stanley E. Perin, published a paper for family members that provided a narrative of early activities of the early ancestors since coming to America. In 1974 he published [The John Perrin Family of Rehoboth, Massachusetts], (https://archive.org/details/johnperrinfamily00peri ) a listing of all ancestors and descendants known at that time. This book can also be found online in several places. It is only in the last several years since retirement that I have actively sought to work on my own ancestry files. My main store of records is maintained on Millennia’s Legacy 9 software. I also use Geni, WikiTree, MyHeritage and other programs as sources for connections. I have been in contact with several specific branches of the Perin Tree and traced them back to a common ancestor. Currently, I have traced my direct lineage back to John Peryn, born 1380.

Name: Daniel John Perin. Given Name: Daniel John. Surname: Perin. Dan //. Given Name: Dan. Surname: Found multiple versions of name. Using Daniel John Perin. A Given name was found in addition to a first name in the NAME tag.

Hi Daniel,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Thanks, Debi. The information you shared is helpful. I will make an effort to work with the orphaned files I adopted. I did find some differences as I reviewed each one, so my work is cut out for me.

Sincerely, Dan

Thanks for your note, Dan,

Please do let me know if you have any questions about how WikiTree works, even if they seem minor. My rule of thumb when I started was to search for an answer for five minutes, then reach out to my Greeters, and then resume searching. I might have found the answer before they got back to me but they sometimes offered a different way of doing the same thing which was easier. We are always here to help.

See you in the branches,

Debi ~ WikiTree Greeter

PS We have a research tool that makes finding reliable sources easier. I use it all the time and it helps me remember different places to check. To give it a try, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research, scroll down near the bottom of that list, and select Research with RootsSearch (use your WikiTree email & password). There are over 20 websites to access from there. You can read more about the tool in the RootsSearch FAQ.

Daniel --

You may have been hard at work adding family members and getting connected to those that are already here. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now. So, this week we're going to look at how to work with your Watchlist: How to Manage Your Watchlist.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Hi Daniel

You've been here for several weeks now. We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better.

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

As always, your questions are welcome

It's time for your next stop on the guided tour!

This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. There's no shortage of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.

Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!

Please let me know if you have questions. :-) If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

Welcome Daniel!

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community. Once you sign the Honor Code, you may start adding profiles.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour to help new members learn their way around. The first stop is How-To #1: How to Start Climbing Our Tree. The How-To's are intended to be visited about once a week, but feel free to work through them at your own pace.

To meet other WikiTreers, check out our G2G forum, including the G2G Question of the Week.

Enjoy!

See you in the branches, Cindy

Hi Daniel!

Welcome to WikiTree! Be sure to take a look at the link in the email you just got. It has important information to help you get started. :-)

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team! And it is completely FREE!

If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, first confirm your email address. Then please fill out the Tags on your profile page and click Save Tags and Volunteer.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

Thanks, Cindy
