Hi Diane

You match me and my brother Todd on Chr 15 (41cm) at My Heritage.

I think it is my mother's side, but I do not know any of the shared matches.

Would you be willing to look at this with me?

Hi Lance,

Looks like you, Todd and I share 7th great grandparents: Frances Thornton 1683-1737 and Mary Taliferro 1685-1741. You descend from their daughter, Alice, and I from their daughter, Elizabeth. That makes us 8th cousins 1x removed. Send me your e-mail address and I will send you the pdf of the exact lines (not sure how to upload it here). There could be other lines that connect us but that is the only one I know of now. I am always delighted to work with another person who is interested in their heritage and lineage..... especially when they are a cousin line. Looking forward to hearing from you. I am curious if you looked at the DNA match or if you just clicked "Relation to me" on wikitree? The fact we share 41 cm makes me think we are more closely related. Do you work with DNA much?

I have not looked at the DNA match yet.... but will do that. I have worked with DNA a little. Any suggestions?

Actually I looked a bit closer and it appears we are probably IBS. When comparing at MyHeritage we match 41cm but at Gedmatch we only match 9.8

I did not click "relation to me" on wikitree..... I used my personal tree on Family Tree Maker.

Well that is interesting. I wonder how I ended up in your tree.

According to Family Search, your great-great-grandfather is the son of Charles Lamb, who is said to have been born in Germany around 1795, and Polly(maiden name unknown). I can't find any evidence he's related to the Lafeyette Lamb family. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/MXKP-9Y9

Hi Diane. i sent you a message earlier. I thought we matched at FTDNA but we do not. We only match at My Heritage. Can you confirm your MyHeritage test is indeed the same one that is at FTDNA?

Hi Dianne, my name is Bill Futral great, great, great grandson of Benjamin Futral born 1776. I was wondering if you have traced farther back? Thanks Bill

You and I share 87.7 cMs, putting us somewhere in the Third Cousin range. My grandmother was from Alabama and I suspect we are related through her, although we don't know how yet.

Hi Dianne,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.
