Hello Todd,

P.S. It's tempting to fill in a bit then add the next person, but please take your time. Finish one profile - adding locations (including countries), dates, and at least one real source - before moving to the next profile. And if you need help finding reliable information for your family members? The easiest way to find info and sources is to use the handy RootsSearch link on the right side of any profile. Use your WikiTree login to access over 20 websites. Once you find a correct source, copy and paste the citation info and add it to the profile. Learn more about sources here.

Hi Todd!

Thank you for signing the Honor Code.

Thank you for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree. It generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through, either accepting or rejecting all suggested matches. Once that has been done, you should see [add] buttons for each of the remaining names.

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

For those using Chrome, Opera or Firefox browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles which have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let me know. To contact me, please log in to WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment to be sure I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment, on my profile page.

Hi Todd,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The Germany Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles that you manage or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Todd

The link to your Ancestry tree 🌳 is not working. See Links to External Sites and Services.

Hi again Todd, and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

Happy tree climbing

Karen ~ WikiTree Greeter

Hi Karen, I’m importing from my GedCom file using Gedcompare, but it will take me several weeks to complete. Meanwhile I’ve accidentally created duplicate profiles for one person: myself! Doh! But the site won’t allow me to merge them cuz I’m still working on importing from my GedCom. Can you please help me merge my two profiles:

Ditchendorf-1 Ditchendorf-2

Thanks!

Never mind Karen, I figured it out. I just had to swap the order of the two accounts I was trying to merge. Then it worked. Thanks again!

Glad you managed to find the solution 😊

Take care and have fun
