Hello, Stacey!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Stacy, Could you check this source link Camden County, Georgia, Administration Bonds, 1833-1896, page 117 Ancestry.com link - Ancestry.com public link on the profile of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Floyd-1960 . When I click on the link, it says the page is not available and I don't have Ancestry account to find the page or problem.

Thanks for adding the sources

Thanks for the heads up. I couldn't get the ancestry public link to work so I have replaced it with the familysearch.org link.

Fantastic - that link works and looks like an interesting read. Will revisit later.

Thats because your private. Ancestry trees are not right, so you've done yourself no good.

In Georgia Ranald's name becomes Randolph, He was the son of Donald ban McGillis. He came to Camden Co. GA

in 1793.. He was a well trained soldier. His wife's first name was Hannah. He was named surveyor and was also Justice f th Peace.

Do you know how the McGillis and McDonald families of Camden County are connected?

Hi Stacey! Thank you so much for adding that link to the two will pages of Elijah Gorman! I'm fascinated by what followed, which was cut off on the bottom of the 2nd page that you linked. Evidently, the will was contested for many years afterward (there are supposedly documents where it was still being argued 30 years later!). That additional document on the 2nd page of what you posted is dated 1849, nine years after the original will. Is there any chance I can ask you to post the rest of that 2nd document? I'm super curious what it says, what actually was being contested. Many thanks! Alan

Hi Stacey, Welcome to WikiTree!

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point. Take your time, keep track of sources, and ask questions. Check here for tips.

Thanks for the welcome. I apparently misunderstood the question on the survey because I thought it was asking about my tree on wikitree. I have been doing genealogy research for about 25 years. I was also fortunate enough to inherit quite a bit of research from my mother and great aunts to start my journey.

I decided to join wikitree because I saw several major branches of my family were not on the tree yet. I also had additional information and photos for some already on the tree. I hope my contributions can help.
