Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

A wiki format to genealogy is a great idea. It makes so much sense to collaborate together on the same tree instead of making copies of the same genealogy over and over again in different peoples files. And sharing information is the best way to catch and correct mistakes. I have been my families unofficial historian since the 1980's and have already made many contributions to werelate.org. However, I also want a way to collaborate and share more recently in our tree where the information is fresh and recordable. Wikitree.com seems like a logical way to accomplish this.
