Marie Breau was born about 1680 in Port Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Vincent Breau (abt. 1631–abt. 1685) and Marie Bourg (1645–1730).
In 1686, at Port Royal, Marie appeared twice in the census.[1]
First, she appeared as Marie, aged 9 [sic], living with her mother, Marie BOURC [sic], aged 50 [sic], widow of Vincent BREAU, along with nine siblings: Antoine, aged 22 [sic], Marguerite, aged 18, Pierre, aged 16, Anne, aged 14, Francois, aged 12, Jean, aged 11 [sic], Jeanne, aged 6 [sic], Rene, aged 3, and Susanne [recte Elizabeth], aged 2 months. The family was living on 3 arpents of cultivable land with 6 cattle, 4 sheep and 6 hogs.
Later, she appeared as Marie, aged 7, living with her mother Marie Bourc [sic], aged 41, widow of Vincent BROT [sic], along with the same nine siblings: Antoine, aged 20, Marguerite, aged 18, Pierre, aged 16, Anne, aged 17 [sic], Francoise [recte Francois], aged 11 [sic], Jeanne [recte Jean], aged 9, Jeanne, aged 5 [sic], Rene, aged 3, and Isabelle [recte Elizabeth], aged 5 months. The family was living on 4 arpents of cultivable land with 10 cattle, 5 sheep, and 5 hogs.
Marie (33) married Abraham Gaudet (34) (born about 1679 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France; son of Pierre Gaudet and Anne Blanchard) in 1714 in Acadie.[2] Her parents were Vincent Breau and Marie Bourg.[3][4][5]. Abraham had previously been married to Agnes Girouard in Canada in 1701. He was a widower with five children when he married Marie. Their known children were:
Marie, aged 65, died on 20 Dec 1742 at St-Francois-de-la-Riviere-du-Sud, Canada.[6]

In the original 1686 census, Bourg was spelled Bourc, Breau was spelled Brot, Jean was written as Jeanne, Francois was spelled Francoise, and Elizabeth was written as Susanne and Isabelle.
