Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy. Here is my family tree.
I saw the John Jefferson High Bible in about 1973. My great-aunt Lena High Brazell, my grandfather's sister, had the bible in her home. I copied the information that she would let me see. I do not know the location of the bible at this point in time. It had the information about his family.

I have copies of the pages from the William Charles and Sarah Louise (Duncan) Atherton Bible that my father had when I was growing up. Currently, my brother has the bible in his possession. They married in 12 Oct 1879, and the bible was printed in 1880.

I was born in Texas, educated in the same place I was born. I was born 90 days premature and was in the hospital for 57 days until I weighed five pounds. Graduated a year early from high school. Studied Spanish for 5 years and was semi fluent and have forgotten a lot. I love the language. I recognize foreign language accents in spoken language and try to guess where the person's heritage. I like to say, "Thank you," in languages if I can pronounce it. It makes other people happy when they hear it. I may not know any other word of that language, but it makes them happy, nonetheless. I taught school for many years; children are my joy. I am proud when I learn that they graduate, get their GED, and/or go on to college. My children are grown. Genealogy and knitting/crochet are my hobbies.

Interesting for me and maybe someone else. I have not checked them all out. I just thought the names were interesting. If there is no protest, I with add the connections list. I find that my line is not listed with many of the trees. Thus, mine is "new". Kathy

How is information saved or what information is saved when you find it to save? I have ancestors who are royals, and there are numerous pages about them, or simply a peasant who may have a paragraph. What is savable or information that is kept? I really don't know what to save. As things are saved, do you copy every letter and space as per copy right and editing?
I have a what appears to me to be a large amount of handwritten material from my great-grandmother's sister. I shared it one time, and was told that the dates were all wrong. I have a little bit from my great grandfather's bible. I use Wikitree.com; geni.com; and Ancestry.com. These are the websites that I use. Sometimes I use others. Geni.com has one line of my mother's 63 generations. It is something I need to do. I have managed to kill three computers and 2 1 terabite external drives. I have been trying to save information as I find it. Also, print it as I find it. Sometimes I don't do either. Keep up with the websites, also.

Good luck with it. Kathly Atherton Wright

Thank you. I'm learning all the time. I found Mom's line went all the way back to the Romans. [Highs and others back to the 100 ce.] What a surprise! it is a direct line that the search engine found; direct bloodline.

Kathy

Hi cousin Kathy,

It's nice to meet other High family descendants online through WikiTree. Thank you for your efforts online to document them.

Regards,

James High

Any help with the DNA would be wonderful. My sister did hers too. I am like daddy. She is like mama. Also, I collected the sample for Mama at about midnight the Sunday night before she died on Tuesday morning. I told her what I was doing and explained it all to her. She let me do it. She had an aneurism that bled out in her head. About all she could do was grunt. She and I had been talking about it for many months. I took the sample to the FTDNA office in Northwest Houston. They did Mama's. About eighteen months ago, I wanted to do the mitocondrial test for Mom, but I think they used my sample. So, mine, Mom's and Brenda's are at FTDNA. I hope that helps.

You have fascinating history. Francis Ross has ancestors who were Magna Carta, Quakers and settled Jamestown. John Jefferson High also has an interesting history. All of this should be on Wikitree. Take anything I have and enjoy.
I know I have relatives from the Magna Carta signatories; Phebe Boring Lyle was a great-grandmother. I think she was a Quaker. John Jefferson High was my gg-grandfather and Frances Elizabeth Ross High. I can not find a connection between us, but I have JJ High in front of me. My g-grandfather was William Green High, who married Annie Davis Ingram. My mother's parents are Robert Ingram High and Kate Greer. They were in Alabama. I will have to look up the signatories for the Magna Carta and the Quakers. I have a few Revolutionary War veterans. There is so much information that I do not have it organized as yet.
Claudia,

I just looked at your family tree. We are both descended from John Jefferson High, He is my gg grandfather, and married to Frances Elizabeth Ross High. There are some Blairs in my line. I think I have finally reached the point where I need to start entering data from my family papers. I have a plastic crate full containing both sides. Thank you for your moral support and information.

Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.

Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.

The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.

To get the best results, begin adding sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to ancestors already in WikiTree. If you have exhausted what you know on one line, it can sometimes help to add what you know on another line. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.

Let me know if you have any questions and have fun!

Hi Kathy,

I have started an Atherton One Name Study (ONS) here.

It would be greatly appreciated if you would you be so kind as to add
This profile is part of the Atherton Name Study.

to your Atherton profiles, their spouses and any children that bear the Atherton Surname?

If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, I would be more than happy to do it for you if you give me access (even temporarily :-) )

Please rest assured that this will only list the person in the ONS. No restricted information will be exposed (even the name if "Private").

Thank you very much in advance. Your cousin, Bob

Bob,

I cannot put the "Atherton Name Study" to the top of this page. Can you help me? I can be very inept with doing things on the web; even if it is cut and paste. Thank you. Kathy

I have been interested in genealogy for several years. It has only been in the last few months that I have had time to work on it. Most of the information that I have comes from family. Any help or information would be appreciated. Thank you all.
