Baptism record found in the Register of Miquelon 1786: Simon Benjamin Gotreau, son of Honoré Gotreau and Anne Comeau, was born November 29 and baptized December First, 1785 in Miquelon. Godparents were Pierre Leclerc and Anne Gotreau ^[2]

On January 11th 1819, in Rustico, Prince Edouard Island, Simon Martin, minor son of deceased Firmain Martin and deceased Marguerite Poirier married Apoline Le Brun minor daughter of deceased François Lebrun and Basquienne Doiron. All of this parish.^[3] Witnesses: Groom- his uncle and guardian Joseph Martin, his brother Joseph Martin; Bride- her brother in law Simon Gautreau, her brother Cyrille LeBrun. Only Simon Gautreau could sign.^[4]

Simon passed away circa 1842 in Balls Creek, Cape Breton, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Colony.^[5]

Ils ont du emigrer au Cap-Breton. Nous savons que plus de trente families acadiennes de Rustico emigrerent au Cap-Breton en 1822 et 1823. On ne voulaient pas leur donmer de titres pour leurs terres, tandis qu'au Cap-Breton on les etablissaient sur les terres de la Couronne. En 1822 on craignait même que toutes les families de Rustico allaient passer au Cap-Breton et ailleurs.
