Winifred Green was born on 17 March 1731 in Prince George, Virginia, the daughter of Henry Green and Eliza (Griffin) Green.[1], [2] She was christened on 23 Apr 1732 at Bristol Parish. [3] (She was the sister of John Green, Henry Green, Dorcas (Green) Jackson, Stephen Green, Frederick Green and Richard Green.)
Winifred is not named in the 1748 will of her father, Henry Green,[4] suggesting that she was deceased by this time.
Research Notes
A previous version of this profile claimed (probably relying only on Don Greene's Shawnee Heritage series, that Winnifrid was born in 1732, the daughter of supposed Native American John Running Fox Green and Elizabeth Unknown, and that she passed away about 1800.
A previous version of this profile also claimed she was a first wife of Edward "old Ned" Sizemore, based on:
A purported son Ephraim Sizemore named his sons in Stephen and Richard.[citation needed] Winifred had brothers by the same names.
Edward Sizemore witnessed the 1748 Will of Henry Green.[4]
In 1761, when Henry Green's son, Henry Green died, a William Sizemore was appointed Executor.[citation needed]
Ephraim Sizemore applied for a Revolutionary War Pension; after his death Winney applied for a widow's pension. [5] Henry Green testified that he knew Winnie and her husband intimately. [6]NOTE: This pension application was for Winifred wife of Ephraim Sizemore of South Carolina, and has nothing to do with Edward "old Ned" Sizemore (b 1725).[7]
Long-time Sizemore researcher Joy Wright King does not support Winifred being wife of Edward "old Ned" Sizemore or mother of any of his children. She has been detached as his wife.

Winifred Green, born 17 Mary 1731 and christened 23 April 1732 in Bristol Parish, Prince George, Virginia, daughter of Henry Green and Eliza.
BIRTHS FROM THE BRISTOL PARISH REGISTER OF HENRICO, PRINCE GEORGE AND DINWIDDIE COUNTIES, VIRGINIA, 1720-1798, by Chamberlayne shows: Prince George:
P.307 Dorcus, daughter of Henry & Elizabeth Green born 27 Sept. 1726
P.308 WINIFRED, daughter of Henry & Elizabeth Green born 17 Mar. 1731
P.306 Mary, daughter of John & Abigale Green born 9 Aug. 1722
P.308 Jemima, daughter of John & Abigale Green born 28 July 1731
She died prior to her father's will in 1748, but her husband Edward Ned Sizemore-38 was a witness to the will. Ephraim Sizemore-59 appears to be her son born prior to her death, perhaps in childbirth.
Ephraim Sizemore-59 named his own sons Stephen and Richard in honor of his maternal Uncles, the brothers of Winifred. his mother.

Edward Sizemore-38 is the widowed husband of Henry's dead daughter Winifred. William Jackson is the son-in-law of Henry Green and the brother-in-law of Edward Sizemore-38.
So if she married and had a son by the time of her father's will, she must have married at the age of 15 or 16, had a baby within the first year, then died. That's pretty young for a marriage in colonial Virginia. Are you certain that she died before 1748?
My reading of her father's will (specifically "to be divided among all children") suggests that there may be additional children, not named. This suggests the possibility that Winifred was still living.
Does any other evidence exist to support the Winifred who was born in 1731 having married Edward Sizemore and by him having a child Ephraim? Or is it mostly that a) Edward witnessed Henry's will, and b) Ephraim named two children after his mother's brothers?
Winifred born 1731(1730 by the older calender) married about age 17-18 period, 1747, baby born 1748, and died prior to father's will 1748.
Joy King, the premier Sizemore researcher in USA, stated in the past, Winifred was likely dead prior to her father's will, which named all of his children who were living.
The fact that Ephraim named his own sons Richard and Stephen is significant, because those are names not used by the Sizemore family traditionally.
The fact that Ephraim's descendant, was named Richard GREEN Sizemore, s/o William C, s/o Richard, s/o Ephraim Sizemore-59, s/o Edward Sizemore-38.
I can not find any other GREEN connection which would explain these naming patterns specifically attached to Ephraim Sizemore-59 and his father Edward Sizemore-38.
Winifred's death explains why Edward Sizemore-38 married secondly,
Green-39151 and Green-1047 are not ready to be merged because: Curious that there are two Winifred Green that married Sizemore. Dates do not match and need further research
Lilly, I'm confused; you say that Green should be merge TO Hart, but the evidence you list supports Green as maiden name. Please clarify.
Also, we have one Winifred Hart-17165 (the one you want merged with this one) married to Ephraim Sizemore-59; and elsewhere (on Sizemore-38) you say that Winifred Green was first wife of old Ned Edward Sizemore-38.
Green-1047 and Green-38093 appear to represent the same person because: Trying this again. 38093 has been detached from inaccurate parents and siblings. Please merge her away into Green-1047.
This isnt a project managed profile so it needs the sticker instead of the project box for Southern Colonies. The sticker right justifies and goes directly under the bio heading. You can remove it if you like.
Green-26252 and Green-1047 appear to represent the same person because: Attached to same parents, with spouses of the same name. I have edited guesstimated dates on Green-26252 to ease the merge and will initiate a merge of spouse profiles as well.
Green-19514 and Green-1047 appear to represent the same person because: Despite differing dates, these profiles have the same parent and sibling names attached and clearly represent the same individual. I have edited Green-19514 to match dates and will try to sort out the other duplicates which also have wildly guesstimated dates.
Green-17269 and Green-1047 appear to represent the same person because: I think that the dates on Green-17269 are likely incorrect and since the data on Green-1047 has sources, we should go with that one. I doubt there could have been two Winifred Greens married to Ephraim Sizemores in Halifax in the early 1700s...
An important aspect of WikiTree is providing sources for information, even if it's just "Aunt Louisa told me in 1984...". For details on how to add, edit and find sources, see: Sources and the Sources Style Guide. To get you started, you can also check this collection of sources for some ideas on where to search for information about your ancestors.
Green-15811 and Green-1047 appear to represent the same person because: same husband, lack of sources makes all data estimates, please merge and do the research...
The dates that concern me are her birth date of 1720 and the marriage date of 1729. We need a source for one or the other and need to correct one or the other before we merge.
