Mr. Edwin,

In the Netherlands genealogical research is facilitated by a huge number of resources, most of them free. As an example a list of "Walter Laming" records in the Netherlands can be obtained by searching here.

You will see birth, marriage, and death records of Walter and his spouse, and birth records of their children. Also listed are "Familieadvertenties" (Newspaper clippings of birth and marriage announcements and obituaries). Viewing these clippings requires a subscription. I have one, so let me know if I can help there.

Hi Edwin

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Also noticed you made 20 contributions to Wikitree, thank you! Here at WikiTree we like to have our members involved with others; collaboration is key!

Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Here is a list of our WikiTree projects you might like to check out: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects

Why don't you also stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

Dorothy, Volunteer Coordinator.

Edwin --

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum Do you have any heroic volunteers in your branch?

Welcome!

Shirley
