Janet:

I have not looked into all the things you identified--there is a lot there. I have some frustration with inputting information to my profile. I have provided information for my parents, brother, and my spouse, but none of that information is saved. I thought I submitted/saved everything, but nothing seems to have stuck. Operator (me) error???

Do I continue with the profiles, or jump to a family tree instead?

Thanks.

Pippin and Lauren:

Thanks to both of you for your welcome to WikiTree. Seems like I have some work to do to provide more information. I will use the new member how-to link to add my information. My interest lies in trying to trace my ancestry for the Senour (Senior, Seniour) surname. Also interested in ties to the Huguenots. My ancestors seem to be prevalent in Virginia and Kentucky, with some presence in North and South Carolina. My tree goes back to 1725 through a Phillip Senior b1725. I'm working with the Huguenot Society Manakin (VA) Town Site to help prove the Huguenot connection.

Any further assistance you might provide will be helpful. Thanks.

Hi Ken,

I apologize for not responding. Pip nor I were notified. If you comment the neither of us will be notified that you posted. If you click the reply link on our comment then we will be notified. You seem to ancestry from the very same locations that I do. That is great that you are actively working on your Huguenot connection. I have one too but mine is through South Carolina.

We have projects covering those various locations and one for Huguenots. This page Badges and Projects's has them listed. There are many sub-projects within the main projects. To view the information on the project just click on the badge. Then at the top of the next page, you will see the badge with a link under it. It will tell you about the project and its sub-projects. It sounds like you may want to look at the United States Project. It has sub-projects by states. They have a lot of resources and members that help each other with various things. Pre-1776 would be the Southern Colonies Project they cover the colonies the Carolina's, Virginia, Mayland, and Georgia. If you are interested in joining a project. I have learned a lot that has helped me in my own research.

If you have any questions please be sure to reply to a comment so that the person will be notified that you have replied.

Laura:

What does it mean to upgrade my membership? What do I need to do to upgrade and what are the additional benefits? I do see the upgrade function and G2G feed in the upper right.

I have a family tree on both Ancestry and FamilySearch. The tree goes back to 1725 with a Phillip Senour b1725. Thru my Huguenot connection, we are now seeing Senour's/Senior's in the 1600s in Virginia. While exciting, it is also intimidating knowing there is much more work to do. Do I need to address my family tree on WikiTree?

I will look at the G2G forum, hopefully soon.

Thanks.

Hey Laura:

Thanks for the message. I was disappointed to learn that no one has addressed the Senour surname on WikiTree. I have been researching the name and developing family linkages for over 35 years. Trying now to connect the name and my ancestors with the Huguenots from France.

What will be your function be in moving forward with WikiTree? I am interested in seeing what WikiTree can offer.

Thanks.

Hi Ken,

We have a lot of members who give a lot of their time trying to do justice to all the profiles on WikiTree. We would welcome you to upgrade your membership and contribute. That would be very much appreciated. If the Senour line is your area of interest and you have researched it then it would be wonderful to have you join us. We do have a France Project and a Huguenot Project that you may be interested in.

The WikiTree goal for the future is to be the most accurate and reliable family tree. Our members work very hard every day to reach that goal. We are aware that errors will be made and we work to correct them. Reliable sourcing is not an option here because we do want an accurate tree. There will always be more work to be done but the goal is as I said to be the most accurate and reliable family tree.

WikiTree has a lot to offer, more than I could list here. We all work together, we have Projects, we source, we have one tree which helps us connect to others and find others descended through the same lines. As I have said it is really more than can be listed in one post. I encourage you to visit our G2G forum. You can look through the different rooms, they are listed on the right side. You will see a lot of different conversations in there.

I hope that has answered your questions.

If you have any other questions please reply to this message.
