Hi Amy, from an 8th cousin through our common gr grandfather, John Bates ( 1655- 1719 ) b. Jamestown, Virginia, d. Skimono York Virginia. He was a Quaker. Just happy to know another cousin....one of the joys of WT. Lula Tuttle Sinnott #2196. PS....that would be twice removed.

Hi Amy

I sent you a check-in message a week ago about the US Southern Colonies Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have not yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the Southern Colonies project? If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’re most welcome to re-join the project at any time.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes,

Mary~ Project Coordinator, Membership, US Southern Colonies

HI Amy

This the June Check in for the Southern Colonies Project. Neither the leader nor I can understand your response to her if you have been active in the last two months..

Liz (the leader) sent you a follow-up message since you did not reply to her January message.

This is now a second follow up message about the US Southern Colonies and your activity in the Project. Are you actively working on this project? Do you still want to be in the project?

The easiest thing would be if you answer "Yes I have been active" or "No, I have not been active."

If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’re most welcome to re-join the project at any time.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes,

Mary, Membership Coordinator, US Southern Colonies Project

Hi Amy! You didn't reply to the January 2021 check-in for the US Southern Colonies Project - just wanted to give you a last shout-out before removing your Southern Colonies project badge. If you'd like to stay a member of the project, please reply to this comment. (The project's participation requirements are that you join a Team and respond to the check-ins - you responded to Mary's November 2020 checkin about the Carolina Teams, but not the Project's January 2021 check-in.)

Thanks!

Hi Amy.

As you will have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.

Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.

Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins.

Many thanks,

Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader

Amy, as you are already a member of Southern Pioneers, you are a member of Southern Colonies which is the parent project. Southern Pioneers is one of its subprojects so I added the badge for you.

Amy, will you please contact me at [email address removed] - I have discovered within the past month that my paternal branch has been assuming the incorrect surname for the past four generations. Suddenly, I have more Prater matches on Ancestry than I can believe - and I didn't have a single Prater in my tree. Out of all those related to the Prater family on GedMatch, you and I share more DNA - 45.7 cM across 10 segments, which makes you and I 4th cousins - but I cannot quite prove how.

You can imagine the jolt this has delivered. I am desperately trying to find a common ancestor. It would help me GREATLY to know who you descend through. We would most certainly have the same 3rd G grandfather. Thank you so much!!

Best regards,

Hi Amy

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The Virginia, North Carolina and Acadians Projects may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Let me know by using the "reply" link under my comments or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.
