Hello and welcome! My interest in family history began, when I was in 3rd grade. I was gifted a hard bound family history book, the type you have to fill in. I had many Great Aunts, Great Uncles, Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts fill my book with information and stories. I was so excited about the stories of my family. Years later when I had my own family. I dusted off my book to enter my children. Oh my to see my hand writing as a little girl, and the stories! You see I had some relatives (Great Uncles) who told all! Just who was 10 cent Mary? So my research began in the late 1990s. I wanted to know more about my family.
I'm a member of 'YDNA Research Group of Thomas Johnson Sr' project with FTDNA (who died 1828 Pike County Kentucky) Our group tests confirms we are descendants of Thomas Johnson Sr. and his sons, Thomas Johnson Jr, William Payne Johnson and Robert Johnson. With YDNA testing and research. We hope to correct many errors circulating regarding the ancestry of our ancestor, Thomas Johnson Sr and his wife Sarah. We have researched many Thomas Johnsons from NC., TN., VA., and Kentucky. DNA testing proves we do not descend from Robert Johnson, and also Patrick Johnson is not a son of Thomas Johnson Sr. The YDNA Research Group of Thomas Johnson Sr is a compilation of the following researchers, David Johnson, Christine Johnson Gephart, Micheal Mclan, Jimmy Jackson and Dennis Johnson, and last but certaintly not least Bertha Johnson Noble and Inza Johnson.
My primary area of research is Thomas Johnson Sr. and his descendants. My paternal and maternal lines directly desend from his sons Thomas Johnson Jr and William Payne Johnson. I have been doing Johnson research for many years. My greatest disire is to find a document leading us to his parentage. I stopped researching in 2010, because life got busy and I own 2 stores. I want to place my research on a free access, for the future generations to know the truth about their ancestry.
Have you taken a DNA test? If so, login to add it. If not, see our friends at Ancestry DNA.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

When you have the chance, please add your South Central Appalachia interests next to your name on our South Central Team page. While you’re there, you can read what others are working on and get to know us a little bit. Then join us on the Discord channel – we are a friendly bunch!
Also, please review our Reliable (and Unreliable) Sources for the Appalachia Project to help with sourcing our Profiles as you add or come across them. WikiTree requires valid sources on all Profiles and our Project has certain requirements for sources. Check the Appalachia Stickers Page for tips on adding stickers to profiles. In fact, you can add a team sticker to your own page!
I am always available for any questions or help -- about Appalachia or about anything on WikiTree. Thanks for joining the team.
