Richard,

As Debi noted in her comment, the FAQ explains the attention that adopted profiles may need.

If you go to your Watchlist (under the My WikiTree menu) there is an Unsourced button that will give you a list of the profiles that need sources.

I also noticed that you attached https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Knierem-1 as the mother of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bender-2147 but that neither Anna nor her son have any sources that would explain that relationship.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If the profile needs GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hello Rick,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The United States Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Rick,

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a while now, I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful, or left you with any questions? Let me know if you need any tips to help you get more of your family members added.

I am here to help with any problems or concerns you may have. To contact me, log into WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment so that I will be notified. Congratulations R !!

You are now a Family Member! I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do, as it is a lot of fun and there are tons of great people collaborating.

We are so happy to have you here in the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Don't be afraid to ask questions in our G2G forum and get involved as much or as little as works for you. Be sure to check out the tabs at the very top right hand side of your profile, there is lots to discover!

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person.

I noticed on your tags you used both first and last names. That tends to be too specific.

Tags become clickable links to others researching those names, or places, that you are interested in. They also control what is included in the family activity emails from WikiTree. For better results, consider editing your tags somewhat.

You can find more information about tags here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags.

Happy tree climbing!

Pam, Entering my wife's tree from old family bibles and other logged information by past ancestors left by the descendants, I have ran across three profiles that are the same Person in three different trees. I entered Garner-6185. Due to search criteria out of parameters, the two did not pop up to attach either into her tree. The three Garner profiles are: Garner-500, Garner-2280, and Garner 6185. Two are locked, and I am the owner of 6185. I did figure out how to adopt and merge profiles, but with three, I am not sure. Any help is appreciated to allow me to continue down this line.

I do plan on going back into most profiles and attach documentation that I have, but I want to build the tree first. Hopefully allowing less manual entry and a couple of generations at a time to appear. Let me know your opinion and solutions.

Hi Rick,

I checked out those other pages, someone has already merged Garner-4216 into Garner-500. I would put in a merge request between Garner-500 and my profile. (We are striving for one tree with everyone just having one profile.)

When you suggest the merge comment on the page that you have done so and copy that message on the profile managers page with the ID or Link to the page. I also shoot the manager a private message in case they aren't doing Wiki at the moment😉.

Yours will be merged into Garner-500 because they get rid of the larger number. Garner-500 is open and you can add to/edit it, There is no guarantee that what you add to yours will get merged over and you'll have to reenter it. All the profiles associated with Garner-500 are open as well so you can continue and edit them.

I hope I have answered your questions. Have Fun! Pam
