Help us find and improve next week's Connection Finder profiles: Kings

Rootstech is fast upon us! Our guest stars at this year's conference are kings... Martin Luther King, Jr. and King Henry VIII, to be exact. They'll be in our booth welcoming visitors all weekend. Be sure to stop by and say hi!

To go along with our booth theme, we're looking for kings to feature in the Connection Finder next week, anyone king adjacent, like kings (royalty), people considered kings of their field, or those with the name of King.

Here are some kings we're considering:

Who else should we feature? We have room for 12 individuals. We can't feature everyone who is nominated, but if we don't feature a profile you work on, we may use it sometime in the future. And, of course, all contributions help improve our shared tree.

Our choice of features will depend partly on the notable person's CC7, i.e. their connection count within seven degrees. The more connections they have, the more likely it is for all WikiTree members to find a close and interesting connection to them. So, if you nominate someone, please help grow their CC7.

Suggestions are more likely to be considered if you provide a link to the person on WikiTree, some information about who they were or why you're nominating them, and if their profile is in good condition with a connection, image, and well-written and well-sourced biography.

We'll make a final decision on which ones to feature early next week.

Please reply here with what you're working on so that we don't duplicate our efforts. Thank you!

Take note that this is not the place to discuss why you think we shouldn't feature someone if those reasons are due to politics, actions, or opinions of those being suggested. Mentioning things like their not being connected, their biography still needing work, erroneous information, etc. are all suitable for discussion here and an opportunity to correct those situations.

Help us choose themes for 2024 Connection Finder themes here.

I nominate Larry King, one of the great TV and radio broadcasters and BB King, one of the great blues guitarists. BB King has a low CC7 and is not connected and Larry's CC7 count could use some improving.

Went for names that mean King or Ruler with the exception of one.

For the Appalachia Project, Barbara Kingsolver. Not a huge CC7 but worthy.

Author, Roald Dahl (1916-1990). Roald has the King meaning.

Actor Rex Harrison, Reginald Carey Harrison (1908-1990) Rex is the king name here.

Ronald means king so who better than Ronnie Van Zant, Ronald Wayne Van Zant (1948-1977)

Or there’s him, Lafayette Ronald Hubbard (1911-1986)

Roy is French for King so musician, Roy Claxton Acuff (1903-1992) fills the bill.

Actor Oliver Burgess Meredith (1907-1997) has a last name that means ruler.

Dr. Catherine Helen King MBE - CC7 is 655. Radio broadcaster including starting Kindergarten of the Air, and ABC Women's Session in the 1940s based on the premise that women who were not in the paid workforce were thinking people with wide interests and concerns.

Also Sir Cliff R. Richard OBE was described as the Utter King of Rock'n'Roll by The Young Ones but only has 99 connections.

by Scott Davis G2G6 Mach 3 (37.4k points)
