Kingston marriage unlikely
Highly unlikely marriage took place in Kingston RDC This is the closest entry and possibly the cause of confusion:
[[Hoes: p. 631:#1543 1771 Dec 13; Hendrick Lits, j.m. born in Kinderhoek [Kinderhood]and Catriena Weever j.d. born at Klyn [Klein] Esopus, both residing there. Date of banns not given. The dominie that conducted the marriage was not recorded.
This looks like a too long a stretch to be the marriage record for Hendrick Janszen Kortright and Catherine H. Webber.]] Year 1772 at RDC Kingston was a year of missing baptism records and sparse marriage records. Tom Quick.
Lots of info that suggests that Hendricks father Jan Bastiaensen did not go immediately to Esopus after emigrating, but rather farmed in Staten Island and Harlaam before removing to Esopus/Kingston. See father...
On September 19, 1701, Jan Bastiaensen, Hendricks father, bought from Peter Van Oblienas a tract of land on Sherman Creek (Harlem) which became the well known Kortright farm, which continued in the family till 1786. Here, Jan, built and lived till very aged, at least his name remained in the tax lists until 1753. Tis reinforces the Harlaam marriage....need Harlaam baptisms...Riker?
Jan [the father] was the "Kortryck" who owned a Bouwery on Staten Island in
1674. (N. Y. Col. Mss., XXIII, 403). He spent part of his time at
Harlem, but is last mentioned there Jan. 8th, 1677, when he is witness
to a power of attorney, given by his old Schoonrewoerd friend, Jan Louwe
Bogert.
Harlaam: 'Before the people separated, they nominated new town officers, who
were Jan Van Brevoort, constable, and Jan Dyckman, Lawrence Jansen
Kortright, and Isaac Delamater, magistrates, who were sworn in at New
York, November 2nd, 1686". p. 19 Who was Lawrence Jansen Kortright? [3]
Jan Hendricksen was bp. Apr 28, 1674. Baptism was recorded at the Reformed Dutch Church of New York, Province of New York; sponsors were: Laurens Janszen, Annetje Cornelis [5]
Geertie Hendricks was bp. on Jul 23, 1682. Baptism was recorded at the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster County, Province of New York (Hoes 17:272); sponsors were: Jan Focke, Engel Janz[6]
Laurens Hendricks was bp. Jun 24, 1688. Baptism was recorded at the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster County, Province of New York; sponsors were: Laurens; Kees Kool, Jannetje Lambers[7]
Jannetje Hendrikse was bp. on Nov 18, 1694, Baptism was recorded at the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster County, Province of New York; sponsors were: Teunis Oosterhout, Maria Pels[8]

Van Kortright-5 and Van Kortryk-23 appear to represent the same person because: Same father, spouse, child, birth and death. Van Kortryk-23 is the designated NNS profile.
Suggest removal of Jelantje de La Montagne as mother of Hendrick. the mother of Jan Bastianszen's children is disputed, with either, Jelante de La Montagne or Annetje Cornelis vying for the credit.
The naming of the children and grandchildren of Jan give credence to Annetje's claim, however no proof can be found either way. Both are claimed to be Jan's wives with identical death dates in New Haerlem.
Both could be Jan's wife, but serially, not in parallel.
While fathers can change, with mother's it can be one or the other...unless Jan a bigamist?
Marriage at Kingston highly unlikely. The Ancestry.com source that implied Kingston, prob. used the dec 13, 1671 marriage record for Hendrick LITS and Catriena Weever. Prob. marriage location Harlaam, NY.
Van Kortryk-23 and Van Kortright-5 are duplicates. But, each is attached to a different mother but same father. The father was married to each woman so we need to figure out which is the correct mother.

Vankortryk-11 and Van Kortryk-23 appear to represent the same person because: This is okay to merge into the NNS PPP. No tree conflicts. Alternate death from this match Minisink, Orange, New York, United States needs study. Thanks!
Kortreght-9 and Van Kortryk-23 appear to represent the same person because: This recently imported duplicate needs to be merged into the NNS PPP. No tree conflcits. Add Kortreght to the aka list. Thanks!
Cortright-55 and Van Kortryk-23 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest paternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge. No tree conflicts. These matches have been reviewed by the New Netherland Settlers Merge Approval System, and the "Green" destination NNS profile is protected as PPP, and the "Merge Pending" profile is now ready and able to be merged into it. I saved the data to the bios. The important data point to capture from this match is the full birth Born February 12, 1648. Thanks!
