Biography

Hendrick Bosch, born in Randerhoysen, Denmark, was first married to Anna Maria Rembach. They registered their banns on 4 June 1643.[1]

His second wife was Marya Gerrits Eshuysen. [2]

Hendrick married lastly to Egbertie Dircks.

Although early versions of the name include "Randershusen," the modern form of the name, Randers, first came into use at the end of the 17th century.[3]

Children

Albertus Bosch that married Elsje is his son, thought to be the 16 year old traveling with him on the Trouw. Albert was a bachelor when he married Elsje in 1668.

Will

Following are abstracted notes on Hendrick's will:[12]

Hendrick Bosch, of New York, sword cutler, considering my great age and other bodily infirmities. I leave to the coheirs of my son, Albert Bosch, deceased, procreated by my first wife, Anna Maria Rembach, viz.: Jurian, Justus, Casparus, Albertus, and Anna Maria, wife of Mr. Marshall, of this city, taylor, the sum of 6 shillings to be equally divided among them, in full of any pretense to my estate, I declaring that I have heretofore, during the life of the said Albert, their father, sufficiently provided for him. I leave to my daughter Dorothea, procreated by my second wife, Maria Eshuysen, and now the wife of Isaac Kasperse, of Albany, 1 shilling, in full of her part. I leave to my daughter Hillegant, procreated by my second wife, and now the wife of Lodowyk Ackerman, 1 shilling. I leave to my dear and entirely beloved wife Egbertie, all my estate, real and personal, with full power to sell or mortgage, without giving account to my children or any one else. After her death, what is left is to be divided by my sons, Hendrick, Samuel, and Joshua, and my daughter Cornelia, wife of Peter Cavalier, all procreated by my wife Egbertie, in four equal parts among them. But my son Hendrick is to have besides, the sum of £7, 10s., as a gift for the particular service he has done for me some years past. I make my wife executor. Dated April 23, 1701. Witnesses, Gerardus Keteltas, Abraham Gouverneur. (Not proved.) .

[Note.—The house of Hendrick Bosch was on the north side of Pearl Street, the second lot east from the corner of Broad Street. The lot next east of Fraunces Tavern was a water lot opposite the above, and was granted to the son, Albert Bosch, November 19, 1686. The descendants of Hendrick Bosch, or some of them, took the name of Bush.—W. S. P.]

Notes on Parents

The following is from profile Ter Bosch-13:

Wilhelmina Voight. Born ABT 1600 Holland [now the Netherlands]. She married Jan Ter Bosch. Born 12 SEP 1599 Dorsten, Westfalen [Westphalia], Germany. Died ABT 1635 Holland [now the Netherlands]. Children of Wilhelmina Voight and Jan Ter Bosch are:
  1. Hendrick Albertus Ter Bosch. Born ABT 1623 Randerhausen, ?, Germany.

Note: The validity of this information is not obvious. If his father's name was Jan, why would he have had the patronymic Albertsz?

To answer the question posed in the biography, why Hendrick Albertzen would be the son of Jan, not Albert...Pat Wardell in her profile on this individual says his name was Hendrick Bosch, from Leyden (although she gives his birthplace as Denmark), and that his father's name was also Hendrick Bosch. Perhaps change his parents?

Based on New Netherland Project naming conventions, his LNAB is Bosch, the name that appears on the earliest documented record for him.

Ter Bosch-13 and Bosch-81 appear to represent the same person because: Part of a chain of duplicate parents (and grandparents) for Hallenbeck-89 and Halenbeck-38.

Was his LNAB Ter_Bosch ?

I am initiating a merge proposal for Ter_Bosch-13 into Bosch-81.

Bosch-114 and Bosch-81 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest paternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the NNS PPP name. No tree conflicts. Thanks!
