Biography

Isabelle Guilbeau was born about 1675 in Port Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Pierre Guilbeau (abt. 1639–1703) and Catherine Thériot (abt. 1650–1713).[1]

In 1686, at Port Royal, Isabelle, aged 11, was living with her parents, Pierre GUILBAULT [sic], aged 47, and Catherine TERRIOT [sic], aged 33, and her six siblings: Marguerite, aged 18, Jeanne, aged 16, Hugues, aged 13, Charles, aged 9, Marie, aged 4, and Jeanne, aged 1. The family owned 1 gun and was living on 8 arpents of cultivable land with 8 cattle, 6 sheep, and 8 hogs.[2]

Isabelle (17) married Pierre Granger (21) (born in Feb 1671 in Port-Royal, Acadie; son of Laurent Granger and Marie Landry) in 1693 in Port-Royal, Acadie.[1]

Isabelle died on 19 May 1739, in Grand Pre, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia, aged 63. Isabelle was mentioned on a memorial in Saint-Charles-des-Mines, Grand Pré, Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada.[3]
