Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi Gudula,

I have noticed all your work on Haese profiles on wikitree. Thank you so much. I started a Haese one name study quite some time ago. I would love for you to become an official member of the study if you would like to :)

Hi,

The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.

Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I have no information on this family at all, I merely noted *in passing* that there were profiles that appear to be duplications in that family line

How many of those profiles have *evidence* of the parent/child and spouse/spouse relationships in the form of documentation with citation do not know

Jean(e) Guthree Patton has 7.4K descendants and I am not going to examine all 7.4K profiles to see if they contain those VERIFIED relationships

Usually, anything before 1800 in any country in the western world, one looks for land or slave deeds, dowry notes, last will and testaments, marriage banns, church registers, probate or estate inventory and so forth and secures an abstract and copies the citation or creates a citation and whichever form of citation it will have the URL so other can go-see

However, if this Patton line follows the pattern that most of these lines have followed, that are pre 1700's, I don't expect any resolution of any of the profiles of persons born before 1800

Hi! Are you interested in participating in this year's Spring Clean-a-thon on April 23? We would appreciate all the help we can get even if you only have a moment to clear a few errors. If you are interested you can sign up on the following link, let them know you want to be on Team Nordic Noir, formerly Spic-n-Span Scandinavians:

Hi Gudula,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted". You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi Gudula,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Please also review the information on Sources. We have a research tool that will make finding sources easier, I use it all the time. To give it a try, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research, scroll down near the bottom of that list, and select Research with RootsSearch (use your WikiTree email & password). There are over 20 websites to access from there. You can read more about the tool in the RootSearch FAQ.
