Hello Heather,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

As I recall, Linda, there were some errors. Did not mean to delete any headers. Terribly sorry!

If you think there is an error, add some Research Notes to the profile with your reasoning, as I did, because his birth location is not definite. There was only one source, which was not a primary source, which is what you removed.
Hi Heather,

Thanks for the additions to the Purdy family! I am a descendant.

Hi, Heather.

I'm eager to help you with your tree of New Netherland descendants, but I'm beginning to wonder if you are receiving all of your WikitTree notification emails. I know you have been trying to connect the profile you created for Neeltje “Ellender” Schenck (Schenck-1809) to the profiles for her parents. Because there was an existing profile for this woman, what we need to do to connect her is to merge the profile you created with the profile for Eleanor Schenck (Schenck-228). I proposed the merge on Thursday, and all that's needed to complete it is approval from you. Did you not receive an email notification about the merge proposal?

Also, I've emailed you at the address on your private message to me, and I've not gotten a reply. Is there a problem with that email address?

Thanks, Ellen! I was looking for a reply but did not know where to find it. I’ve merged Neeltje/Nelke Schenck and read your other comments.

:-) WikiTree definiitely does have a confusing collection of places for communication with other members. Email is the common element for most communications, since private messages come via email and we get automatic email notifications for merge proposals affecting pages we manage, messages posted on our profiles, and replies to messages we posted on other profiles. Some members have some of these notifications turned off in their personal settings; you might want to check the "Email" section on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Settings to see if you have some of these turned off.

That’s very helpful! Apparently I did have some notifications turned off and have turned them on. Thank you. :)

Welcome back to WikiTree, Heather!

We are so pleased you decided to upgrade and thank you for signing the Honor Code.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
