Hi Gene,

Yes, I've heard of it and I tried reaching out but then I never figured out how to add people to the US Black Heritage Project. Since I'm at a bit of a brick wall with my own family, I enjoy researching and adding notable Black & Indigenous men and women to WikiTree, so I'm happy to help however I can with the project. I've added you to a few profiles' Trusted List that I created.

Nadia

Nadia please follow this link to G2G https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1168536/would-you-like-to-join-the-us-black-heritage-project-2 and respond to the question... Emma will reach out to you after that and more than likely I or one of the other coordinators will be your guide to help our project grow... Thank you again for your interest! Love what I've seen so far?

Have you used G2G to try and solve your brick wall?

Hello Nadia,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

I’m going to suggest that the Germany might fit your current research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Please take your time. Accuracy is so much more important than speed on WikiTree. And please add locations, dates, and at least one reliable source to each profile, particularly any pre-1700s profile, before you leave it. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

 :)

Hi Nadia, I reset some bio's of which you had changed the place names, as for example here. Germany did not exist then, what existed was the Holy Roman Empire (or in German Heiliges Römisches Reich); South Africa also did not exist then, the acceptable name (cleared for project use) for this period = de Caep de Goede Hoop ...

Hi Nadia,

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If any of the profiles need GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

PS The link for your Ancestry tree isn't working. It says the invitation is expired. Here is a link to our help page on how to find working Ancestry links: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Links_to_External_Sites_and_Services

Hi Nadia and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Happy tree climbing

Pam ~ WikiTree Greeter

PS Did you know that Tags become clickable links to others researching those names, or places, that you are interested in. They also control what is included in the family activity emails from WikiTree.
