Marie Anne Barrieau or Barriault, daughter of Jacques Barrieau and Anne Marie Turpin, was born about 1727 in Annapolis Royal (was named Port-Royal until 1710), Acadie. [1]
She married first Eustache Lejeune about 1747. Around 1749, they settled in Isle Royale (present-day Cape Breton Island). They were listed in the 1752 La Roque census at Isle Madame, Isle Royale, with their 2 children Agathe and Marie Joseph.[2]
In 1763, Joseph was on a list of Acadians taken prisoner at Halifax with 10 members of his family.[4][5][6] " At first glance, it may seem surprising that the family of Joseph Roy and Marie-Anne Barrieau is made up of 10 people. It must be considered that this family undoubtedly included children from Eustache Lejeune and Marie-Anne Barrieau, Joseph Roy and Marie-Agnès D'Amours de Chauffours, and then finally children of Joseph Roy and Marie-Anne Barrieau".[7]
She was still alive as for January 11, 1780 and living at Louisbourg: "...Joseph Lejeune, son of the late Eustache Lejeune and Marie Anne Bariot of Louisbourg in Isle Royale..." [8]
