Duplicate profiles cause a lot of damage to the global tree and cause a lot of extra work for others.
Also profiles should have sources added that can be read by others death notice of Johannes Willem van Tonder T191 Fol 672 on the profile of Andries Johannes van Tonder is not a reliable source
You origanaly created Andries Johannes Johannes van Tonder (1841) now changed to (1792-1881) as child of Johannes Willem van Tonder (1816-1887) An obvious duplicate Then you added Anna Magdalena (Olivier) van der Merwe (1821-abt.1896) as mother of Andries Johannes Johannes van Tonder You then corrected the mistake when you removed Andries Johannes Johannes van Tonder (1792-1881) as child of Johannes Willem van Tonder (1816-1887). but it was still a duplicate and still connected to the incorrect mother Frederik Willem Johannes Britz proposed a merge of Andries Johannes Johannes van Tonder then 1841 now (1792-1881) and Andries Johannes van Tonder (abt.1841-) to clear the duplicate the merge was completed and all was well I communicated with you privately to explain the procedure Then on the 13 of April you changed the profile data to Andries Johannes Johannes (Andries) van Tonder Van_Tonder-1133 was changed stating a birth date of 1792 adding two wives... All duplicates Then you added a child Andries Johannes van Tonder Born 27 Sep 1792 in Stellenbosch, Cape Colony, South Africa with unknown mother. Entries like these do not make sense and corrupts the van Tonder tree Please send me you family tree which will enable me to sort out all the problems and to assistyou to restore and create a true family line for your branch Regards Ronel
Iâve noticed that you have South African Roots like me, may I give you some tips for South African research on WikiTree?
In the South African Roots Project we have a standards/guidelines ~ a particular one is to please use the correct location name as was used at the time of the event. Another one is name fields on profiles.
Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project? Besides links to sources, there are help pages that might also be useful. Many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eighteenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources. A few handy links:
I also noticed you mentioned that you've traced your tree with DNA. This DNA help page will have all the info you need to add your DNA. The South African Roots Project also has subprojects that you could get involved in, such as The Anglo-Boer.
