Madeleine Marie LeBlanc was born on April 7, 1758 in Miramichi, Grand Pre, Nova Scotia, daughter of Étienne LeBlanc (1722–<1769) and Elizabeth Boudrot (1722–>1777).

Madeleine (19) married Joseph Landry (21) (born about 1756 in Pisiguid, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia; son of Abraham Landry and Marguerite Flan) on February 23, 1773 in St. James, Louisiana.[2]

Their known children were:

Joseph died in 1784.

Madeleine (29) married Henri Robichaux (28) (born on July 18, 1759 in Halifax, Nova Scotia; son of Amable Joseph Robichaud and Anastasie Dugas) on September 8, 1787 in Ascension Parish, Louisiana.

Their known children were:

Henri died in 1799.

She married Jacques Lamothe on 31 January 1803 in Plattenville, Louisiana.[6]

Their known children were:

  • Francoise Isabel Clementine Lamothe (1803–1884)
  • Onesime Lamothe (1810–1861)

On April 5, 1807, Madeline and her third husband Jaques sell a plantation on Bayou Lafourche to her brother-in-law, Louis Robichaux, moving further, down the bayou. [7]

By 1810 Jacques and Madeline were living in Lafourche Parish, part of the United States Territory of Orleans, a few years before Louisiana statehood. This area was comprised of mainly Acadians, French, Spanish, Germans and others who spoke a French Acadian dialect and became known as Cajuns. Madeleine was listed as being 52 years old with her third husband and four children. On the census, she is listed as living at dwelling 376.[8]

Madeleine died on July 26, 1842 in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, United States, aged 84.[citation needed]
