I live in Memphis, Tennessee, and enjoy genealogy as a hobby. Right now I'm mainly interested in Southern genealogy and documenting the names and stories of enslaved people.

My own ancestors immigrated to Michigan and Iowa from the Netherlands in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

One line of my husband's ancestors (Webb, Shapard, Bailey, Smith, and Booker are the primary names) were early colonizers and slaveholders in Virginia and North Carolina before coming west to Haywood and Shelby counties in Tennessee.

Hello Naomi,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Naomi,

Welcome to WikiTree. By now you should have received an email with helpful links to get you started on adding your family to ours. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team! What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests. When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.

Enjoy the experience,

Bill D  :-D
