You likely found your way to my profile because of my Crawford connection. You are surprised as me in this revelation. Through a Y-DNA test I matched with multiple other Crawford's and Crockett's[1]. From family history we traced my paternal lineage to Charles Curtis Brady who first shows up in the 1870 census living as a 10 year old with a Smith family in Patrick County Virginia.[2] In Carroll county in 1860 we find Emily Brady.[3] In Wythe County in 1850 (no 1860 Census has been found) we find Charles Yancey Crawford Jr who's Y-DNA I match.[4] This places my three ancestors in three connecting counties in Virginia when they would have met.

The circumstantial evidence I have to support this connection is on Charles Curtis Brady's death certificate his parents are listed Charles Brady and Emily Crawford. The last names are swapped.

Don't hesitate to reach out to me if we are related or you have a question as I am adding connections to the Crawford tree.

I have lived in: California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama and Missouri.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Luke or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:

Luke, I just love your profile page layout, and I'm going to copy you! What a great idea to list the confirmed ancestors, DNA test summary, and to provide that Thank you area. So gracious! A lovely page.

Feel free to copy my layout! I have always thought that the huge list of stickers was difficult to read all on top of each other so I came up with a way spacing it out a little better. I want to make a kind of table for the stickers but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Hi, Luke

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi -again- Luke!

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point. Take your time, keep track of sources, and ask questions. Check here for tips.
