Biography

I started this family tree after finding gravestones for my family. The more I dug, the more I became obsessed with history, in general. I have now done most of my direct tree, which I doubt I could ever say is complete, always a work in progress, aswell as my husbands and ex husbands family trees. Have now run out of family trees, so its time to get involved with my favourite projects..

Hi Janette,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge and joining the South African Roots and German Roots projects! Here is the link to all the projects in case you might want to join other projects. Pre-1700 Project Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

If you would like to add sources to your husband's lineage, there are certain protocols that we follow in the SAR (South African Roots) and Dutch Cape Colony projects. That is keep the bio's readible and the ongoing research validatory and collaborative. You can - if not sure - always add to the comment boxes and we will get to them. You can also ask (there is a link for that) to be added to the trusted list of a profile.

Hi Janette, a warm though belated welcome to WikiTree! Many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eigtheenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many - though not all - have also been validated with primary sources. Many have also been validated with primary sources. I added you to the trusted list of your husband's progenitor: Engelbrecht-140.

A few handy links to get you started:

  1. Getting Started
  2. Adding to WikiTree.
  3. Pre-1700 Quiz (self-certifying in order to understand better how to de pre-1700 genealogical work on WikiTree)
  4. What are duplicates? Why should and how can they be avoided?
  5. G2G Help - for any questions you may have ....

Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project ? Besides links to sources, there help pages that are also useful.
