Biography

Marie Dugas was born in 1667 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Abraham Dugas (abt. 1616–bef. 1700) and Marguerite Doucet (abt. 1625–1707).

She was counted in the census of 1678 in the home of her parents.[1]

Marie (15) married André LeBlanc (23) (born about 1659 in Port-Royal; son of Daniel LeBlanc and Françoise Gaudet) in 1683 in Grand-Pré, Acadie. Their known children were:

  1. Jean LeBlanc (abt. 1684–bef. 1754) .
  2. Marie LeBlanc (abt. 1687–1758) .
  3. Pierre LeBlanc (abt. 1689–aft. 1756) .
  4. Anne (Leblanc) LeBlanc (abt. 1692– ) .
  5. Jacques LeBlanc (abt. 1694–1743) .
  6. Claude André LeBlanc (1696–1765) .
  7. François LeBlanc (abt. 1698– ) .
  8. Joseph André LeBlanc (1704–aft. 1763) .
  9. Charles LeBlanc (1707–abt. 1764) .
  10. Claire LeBlanc (1710–aft. 1772)

In 1686, at Port Royal, Marie DUGAS, aged 19, was living with her husband, André LEBLANC, aged 26 and their two-year-old son Jean. André was working on the paternal land at Port-Royal. Later that same year, André moved his family to Grand-Pré where he owned his land and a farm.[2]

She was found in Les Mines in 1693, age 26, with four children ages 8 to 1[3]

Marie lived a long life and died in Grand Pré on 13 Jan 1734, aged about 70 years.[4][5][6]

Dugast-33 and Dugas-63 appear to represent the same person because: Same name. Dugas without the t is correct Acadian standard name. Same approx birth year. Same place. Same death date and place. No conflicting information.
