Born and raised in Indiana. |
I was born and raised in Mishawaka, Indiana with my mom and dad and brother David. At age 11, my parents took in my friend Ruth Irene Clark-33799 as a foster child. We had fun taking vacations and road trips. My mother had Type 1 Diabetes since her childhood. It was hard on all of us. She had anger issues too. My parents put us kids in private Christian education in middle school. I loved it. Ruth left our home at age 16.
After graduating from Grace Baptist School in South Bend, Indiana in 1979. I attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina in their music education program with a piano proficiency. I enjoyed my year there immensely. With no more money, I left for home and worked in a screen printing factory for 4 1/2 years. I met my future husband at a new church my parents transferred to. Paul and I were married in 1984. I moved to Elkhart, IN and we started our life. We have three children, which I stayed home to raise.
When our youngest was four years old (1996), I got a part-time job at our local public library. i loved it. My manager at the time, encouraged me to go back to college and get a degree with my dusty credits in tow. At age 39 (1999), I enrolled at a local University. 4 years later (2003), I graduated with high distinction with a Bachelors Degree. I was also working full-time at the public library too. A lot on my plate, but I loved doing it all…
In February 2021, i miraculously got hired at a medical clinic when it was suggested that I apply! 3 interviews with 5 people and 2 typing tests later proved to me that I am worthy to be part of a team again! Healthcare will be part of me after 12 1/2 years without it. I stayed 8 months. I was bullied terribly again. After my 2 week notice, I moved on to work at Fairhaven OBGYN as Front Office Coordinator. The insurance wasn't good and after a 4 week notice I left. I got a better job as a Temp. I loved my assignments. In December 2022, I got hired as an AMSA for the Federal Government.
I plug myself wholeheartedly into my family tree research and DNA testing my relatives with gifted kits. Honestly, I have been interested in my family roots since the late 1970's when I was a teen. In 2003, I loved the use of the internet to further my research. I am "DebraPolly" on Findagrave, Ancestry and other sites. My relatives are posted here and on Ancestry, FamilySearch, FamilytreeDNA, GEDmatch, MyHeritage, etc. as well, so I can find more information about my ancestors from others searching the same lines. Some people like to lie about my family origins and say I have no proof, but I have all the records I need of my forebears to prove who I am. Records are posted in Ancestry.com's Facts on my Genealogy Family tree.
For years I've been interested in DNA testing and January 2017 I took the plunge with Ancestry DNA. Since then I've tested with more companies, hoping to find more cousins and help break through my Hughey brick wall especially on my DNA Family Tree. I have been gifting DNA kits to my relatives to help me do just that. It is only a matter of time until the pieces of the family tree puzzle are all put together. I look forward to that day! Have fun climbing your own family tree! Shake those branches and let the nuts fall out! Don't fret if you find any skeletons in your closet, make them dance! :)
Thank you.

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:
If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project
This is to check in with you about the Ambassadors Project. There has been some revamping and reorganizing done. You have the badge, but I don’t show you as having access to the project google group.
Please send me a private message with what teams you would like to be on, as well as the email you want to use for the google group. If you use a different email address for trusted list access on WikiTree, please note that as well.
Please review the project page to learn more about the different teams: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ambassadors
I look forward to hearing back from you!

Since you are a direct descendant of Matthias Rice, I wanted you to know I made major changes to his profile. I came to it thru his wife’s mother’s family, the Paines of Needham, and got intrigued. Let me know if you have any problems with what I did. This is not my line. Betty.
I would like to ask what your lineage is, where it comes down through. I checked your GED Match kit # and we share 7 segments at largest being 5.1cM. This definitely is an indicator we come from the same line. So I'm curious which child of Sir William's you come from, and maybe you might have some insights for mine. I recently have found my dad's dna matching several Buckners, so it seems likely that we come from William Waller Johnston, son of Richard. But I'd like to both confirm this and also confirm with other Johnstons from the same ancestor that it is all correct. I look forward to hearing back and can be reached at AlbertLFox at icloud.com. Sincerely, Albert Fox
