Hi! My name is Yisela and I'm an anthropologist and UX Designer with a passion for history and genealogy. I live in Wiltshire, England.

My family emigrated to Argentina during 1840-1880, mostly from Northern Italy/Austria and Spain'. I haven't been able yet to trace their names earlier than 1830 - with a few exceptions in the Roveretto area which is slightly better documented.

I'm interested in collaborating with the big tree, and help and be helped in my quest to find those elusive and brave people who jumped onto boats that would take them somewhere they couldn't even name. I carry them and their stories with me, and hope to contribute to a clearer picture of the huge human family :)

If you happen to be looking for Argentinian relatives, don't hesitate to contact me for advice on how to check boat registries and the 1895 census.

Hi!

This is Chris from the Italy Project. As part of the annual project check-in, can you fill in the project survey? This will let us know that you are still interested in the project and which teams you'd like to participate in.

Thanks and have a great day!

Ciao! I created a thread for the Italy project teams here: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1091444/italy-project-teams-assemble

I hope you check it out. If I have you down for a team, let me know. If you still haven't decided, feel free to comment. Thanks!

Ciao! This is just a general check-in for members of the Italy project. I am checking to see who is still interested in being a member of the project as we go through some much needed restructuring. I was also wondering what teams you would like to be on. We’ve created teams for each part of Italy. North, South, Islands etc. They will be explained further in an upcoming g2g post. Stay tuned. For now, please let me know if you are still interested in the project and if you’d like to be a member of a team.

Grazie. I'll put you right in there.

Yisela, Hola! You mention above that have combed over the 1895 census and boats registry and would love to help others do the same. What are these resources? I would love to look at them. I have relatives in Benito Juarez, Argentina and Morón, Buenos Aires. On my grandfather's side are the Spain family, Quiñones that emigrated to Tandil, Argentina. On my grandmother's side are the Di Ciancias that emigrated from Italy (cannot find much info on them) to Benito Juarez, I believe. I'd love to get help to find out more.

Muchas gracias, gracias de antemano, Deborah

I added my 4ggm Lucia with wikiID Fedrici-2 and noticed that there was a Fedrici-1 already . . . your 4ggm Barbera. Both are from Trentino. I also noticed that you had your GEDmatch kit posted and see that although we have no matches at >7cM, we do have several smaller segments >3cM (as much as 5.1 cM with a total of 29.5 cM).

I could not find anything for Barbera on FamilySearch or Nati in Trentino records but do know a genealogist who could help. I should mention that you have her birth date as the same as her son.

Cheers, Thom

Hi Yisela--

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz! Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.

I see you have taken care of yourself with 2 good projects, Italian Roots Project and Irish Roots Great.. You are on your way.

If you have other questions? Just Ask!!

Hello Again,

You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week now so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions?

I want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS Have you noticed on your ancestor profiles on bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try! For profiles for living people, just go to this link. RootsSearch

I see you added the DNA tag to your profile. Here are a few links & tips to help you along in the journey of WikiTree and DNA.

It's not hard to add DNA test information to profiles on WikiTree, just make sure you add the tests to the actual test participant's profile & set the Privacy to ‘Private w/ Public Biography & Family Tree’ to show the tester's part of our tree. For help see  How to DNA on WikiTree

Here's a great YouTube video with all sorts of questions answered Getting Started with DNA.
