Manager of Connecticut Witch Trials Project

Biography

Putting individuals and families into the context of their times and history is very important to me, so I'm always looking beyond the birth and death dates to see what else I can discover.

One of my main research interests is the Treadwell family. In about 1997, Charles Wall (his mother was a Treadwell) and myself decided to combine our Treadwell data and see how many Treadwells we could add to our database. The collaboration went on until Charlies' passing in 2010. We set up mailing lists and websites. Charlie contacted anyone he could find with a Treadwell connection while I worked at proving the line and our skills complimented each others. Over the years MANY people contributed data to the Treadwell family database which grew to over 60,000 cousins, mainly in the US and Canada. The online records available now dwarf what we collected but the work still goes on.

I've recently set up a Tre(a)dwell Family DNA study on the Family Search website. While, anyone with a FamilyTree account is able to subscribe, only individuals with Treadwell yDNA are considered for the data analysis. Additionally, we'll work on broadening our Treadwell database to include the global community, while we explore what we can find of Treadwells in the earliest written records and back beyond.

The other area of interest that I spend a lot of time with is my mothers family from the general area of Charlotte, North Carolina and surrounding counties. Many of the families arrived in the area before the American Revolution and have remained to the present.

Happy Hunting, Tim

Hi Tim,

I sent you a message a week ago to let you know about the exciting changes in the US Southern Colonies Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have no yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project? If so, which team(s) would you like to be on and please can you private message me with your e-mail address so I can get you added to the project’s Google Group?

If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’d be most welcome to re-join the project at any time.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes,

Susie - US Southern Colonies Co-Leader

Hi Tim,

As you may have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.

Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.

Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins. We’re really excited for the future of the project and hope that you decide to be a part of it with us moving forwards.

Many thanks,

Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader

Thank you! Michelle~ Volunteer Coordinator

Hi Tim,

That answer is what I like to hear. I have marked you as active.

Be sure you try the sticker for Southern Colonies. Check out the Southern Pioneers subproject as your ancestors have to have immigrated.. .... Pioneers. Links are way down in your messages.

Thanks for rewording your answer and my answer. You will keep the badge.

Hi Tim,

Your replies to my questions for Southern Colonies of taking time away, and working on Treadwell ancestors, I am interpreting this to be you do not wish to retain the Southern_Colonies badge.

Thank you so much for responding to our check-in for the Southern Colonies and Southern Pioneers We are sorry to hear that you are not active, but understand that life happens and interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to ancestors.

If I am wrong, please reply again regarding the badge.

Hi Tim,

On behalf of the US Southern Colonies Project, I am doing a six-month check-in with members to see what aspects of the project interest them most.

1) We would like to learn the number of contributions you have made in the last two months (May and April) to Southern Colonies?

2) We would like to know if you have joined other Southern Colonies Subprojects, such as Southern Pioneers Project. Or have you worked on other subprojects?

3) Your activity in Southern Pioneers Project.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Tim,

I also have Alexander ancestors from Mecklenburg, Gaston and Union Counties in North Carolina. Doesn't look like we have any relatives yet but I am still researching all my family roots.
