Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with anyone who shares the same genealogical or historical interests. Here is my family tree.
I am currently researching Angola, Indiana and all of the pioneers on the 1840 Census for Steuben County, Indiana. When my great uncle died in December of 2021 we saw that he had never cleared out his parents stuff when they passed away. He lived in the house over 50 years after they passed. We never expected to find a hundred and twenty years of correspondence and photographs in the house, along with American Civil War Era photographs and documents. Literally, there are tens of thousands of documents and pictures. I've been trusted to digitize and archive it all, since I've been doing the family genealogy since 1988. When I first started, genealogy was done in courthouse basements, graveyards and by mail. The internet is a blessing! Part of my tree is here on WikiTree.

Registration begins soon for the January thon. I will be reminding you when it is time to register, but I have some news that will be helpful when that time comes. I have been told that we will be trying a new registration system. When you go in to register, it will not be just making a comment as in the past. The new system will have sections for each team. You will just find the Legacy Heirs one and post to that one.

Hey,

Here is a list of all 4 thons next year:

Connect-a-Thon Jan 19-22

Connect-a Thon Apr 12-15

Connect-a Thon Jul 19-22

Source-a-Thon Oct 4-7

That means the first Thon of the year will be a Connect-a-Thon on the weekend of the 19 - 22 Jan 2024. I would love to have you with your fellow Legacy Heirs at that time, if it works out for you. I will remind you about registration when that time comes.

P.S. I now know a quick and easy little tip on how to add profiles. If you use the Sourcer/Searcher app, and want to know the hint, let me know and I will send you the steps.

Hello, Victoria!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY IMPORTANT to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Victoria,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
