Biography

I fell in love with genealogy thanks to the time I spent with my mom trying to explain various family relationships. My maternal great grandfather married 3 times. He married 2 sisters, had children with both of them after their deaths he married a 3rd time. I found it very confusing. Mom started our first tree to help. My interest was heightened when I learned that my father was adopted by the Haines family. He and my mother were fortunate enough to find his birth mother. As I learned more of their history I became fascinated by the stories of my ancestors. I wanted to know who they were, where they lived, what their work was and what their lives were like. I wondered why many of them emigrated to North America.

Recently, DNA testing. as well as finding a couple of newspaper articles about this family has pointed me to my Dad's paternal biological family. I now have another great line to pursue. Fortunately, I am retired from healthcare and now have the time to happily spent researching.

I am grateful to Wikitree for its help in keeping our ancesteral lines as correct as possible.

Thank you Sandy for helping with my German Goeckels who have at least 10 spelling versions of their last name. You are a great genealogy sleuth.

Hi, Sandy, thanks for your updates to Andrew Cook. He is my fifth great-grandfather, so you and I seem to be 6th cousins once removed!

Hi, Sandy. Thanks for identifying the duplicate for Benjamin van Boschkerck and proposing the merge. :-)

For your future reference, please know that it is not productive to change the LNAB of a profile that is going to be merged into a profile with a different LNAB. That creates an extra set of redirects in the system, and makes it more difficult to find the profile history in the future. To minimize merges and name changes, we try to identify the lowest-numbered profile with the "correct" LNAB and merge all other profiles directly into that one. (Also, avoidance of extra name changes is one of the reasons why some profiles are project-protected.)

I don't know what you are doing to the Nurse line, but please use caution and SOURCE any further changes. And READ the existing bio and sources as well.

You removed John Nurse's correct mother, then added a different mother, then added his spouse as his mother.

You have added a different Thamasin Nurse as his daughter with an incorrect husband, his correct daughter Thameson is already attached. You have removed this second Thamesin's correct parents as well.

Chris Thank you for fixing this. No matter how i tried to fix it, it just got worse and worse.

Thank you.

That's ok, there seems to be some confusion of the various Thamesin's in this family, so finding sources to confirm or deny lineage is really needed.

Hi Sandy,

This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the words "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions,
