I can see you've been on Wikitree quite a while. How are you settling in with the new design to Wikitree?

There are also a wide range of Wikitree presentations on You Tube if you're interested.

We also have a friendly group on Discord and you can usually get an immediate answer to any question there. There is also a Google AP group

The 2023 Source-a-Thon is coming up on the weekend commencing 29 September. As usual it’s a 72 hour event. The Southern Cross Stars team will be participating and we’d love to have you on the team again if you’re available. You can register at now at register-now-for-the-2023-source-a-thon. We’re not a super-competitive team, so even if you are only free for a couple of hours or you like to work slowly and go down rabbit holes, it will be fun to have you involved. It all helps to improve the tree. We’ll be on Discord again too, if you like to chat during the event.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Andrew,

please add sources to the profiles you create. The Honor Code requests from us to source the information on the profile. For profiles that represent a person born before 1700, you have to put another source than a family tree on the profile, but also profiles after 1700 need sources.

Just a reminder that profiles for people born by 1700 need reliable sources put on them around the time they are created. Imported a GEDCOM is a long process, but please make sure that for those profiles that a pre-1700, more is placed than just a reference to the Cobbold Family Tree, which has lots of profiles with no apparent reliable sourcing to back them up.

I've already entered in some profiles that does my most direct line to Royalty :-)

I currently have my own database driven website, which doesnt use the GEDCOM format with about 11000 names. I know a number of them will be duplicated thus understand about the duplicate thing.

Over the coming little while, I am going to get stuck into PHP/MySQL coding to enable a GEDCOM extract and thus move my data across to here.

Am sure I'll be asking various questions then - so look out ;-)

Also, if your backend people need an additional hand, I'd love to help if they use PHP/MySQL or even other languages, I'd be very interested to see how a site like this is driven etc

I have been interested in Geanology ever since my great uncle gave me a list of approx 1700 names in the mid 80's. I've been building on it ever since.

I currently have about 9000 names on my website sitting on my laptop - a much older version is sitting online at www.bassett-smith.name - the site layout is very old but it works

It was designed before I ever heard of GEDCOM so would need to reformat it to create a GEDCOM file to upload here.

This site looks exactly what I've been looking for so when I'm no more, that the data lives on
