Greetings! I notice you have family members from the former Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria. The Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria Project provides resources for you to aid your search.

If your Galician ancestors were a part of present day Poland (2023), the Poland Project would like to invite you to become a member.

The Galicia Project and Poland Project are heavily intertwined. The Poland Project bridges present day Poland locations to the historical Galicia village category. Present day locations are created to satisfy any point in history, to connect cemetery categories, etc.

  • We have several different task teams that need volunteers. Please take a look at this page to see which one interests you: Volunteer Tasks. Once you have decided which task team you would like to work on, please reply to this comment.
  • The only requirements for ongoing membership in the Poland Project are that you join a team, work with your Team Leader, respond to the periodic check-ins from the Project Leaders/Coordinators and help the Project satisfy its goals. We recognize that people lead busy lives and are grateful for any and all contributions you can make.
  • Once you have joined a team we will award you with the Poland Project badge. Please join the Poland Project Google Group to receive project updates and participate in project and team discussions.

Thank you for all that you do with the categorizations and research!
I noticed that many profiles you manage have discrepancies between Find A Grave as a source and the data on the profile. You should address the differences in information between the cite and this profile.

Timothy,

i am writing after seeing that you added a wife "Living Foose" to Peter J. POLEGA Jr. (1951-1995)

His wife Carol Ann FOOSE is my 4th cousin. My latest info has here living in Sheppton where my grandparents Fellin, Guydish, and Mehalick lived, worked in the mines and died.

I was born 1952 on my grandparents Charles Croll & Emma Foose's farm at 93 Croll Road, Zion Grove, North Union Twsp.

I have done the family history for the FOOSE reunion for the past 4 decades. I would be glad to give you Carol Ann Foose's known 7 generations of Ancestors.

Hi, Timothy

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hey Timothy, nice to see you seeing my progress as I expand the Rowe family genealogy (especially as a distant cousin with a vested intereest.) I know you are at least 4 gens removed, but I wish you were closer, lol. The situation with James and William (and the probably kinda settled issue of them being the adopted sons of Huffman and not his biological children) would be so easily cleared up with YDNA test by one of either of the twins male line descendants. At the FTDNA Rowe project we have 4 descendants of James Rowe who have tested (two from Stephens line, and one each from Josephs and James Jrs line ), and who we can safely say are uninterrupted male line descendatns of James Sr. We know James YDNA haplogroup and can easily answer the question of if the twins are YDNA Rowes or if they are an NPEs on an female line. If you know of any male line descendants of the twins who would like to test, lets talk!

Yes, we are separated just enough that it's at the limit at what autosomal matches can do (anything beyond 6 is really Ydna or Mito testing territory). It can become a crap shoot by gen 5 or 6. I've actually gotten quite a few tenuous links at that distance, but then have not with others that I expected to. (My brother has an autosomal match at Ancestry for the sister of one of the YDNA testers, but not for the YDNA tester himself who also tested, but at the 6-8 generation range, we are talking 1-5 % shared ancestry autosomnallly speaking, it's down ton luck and numbers ) I began a list a few years or so ago of people to check at gedmatch, I'll have to look it up and send you the acct numbers to check against yours. I have a bunch on James Jrs line (especially the Plymales thru Mary Polly), Stephens line (kinda to be expected, as they and James children are double first cousins, makes them slightly closer and almost like siblings for James children, I just expanded 3 of Stephens lines on Wikitree this past week based on Ancestry results, stopping at their parents), at least one on Solomon. A few on the lines of James daughters. None for a few of the other lines. Maybe a male line descendat of Stephen, or Huffman or the twins will see this and decide to test YDNA one day, lol.

Sure thing. And yes, DNA is both scientific, rational, numbers based, and predictive, and inscrutable, arbitary, and then the least likely thing to happen happens and throws off the models, lol. Autosomal is great for 1st, 2nd, and 4th cousins. By the time you get to 5th cousins it's "how much of the dna of one of my 128 ancestors do we share?" Statistically, it should be less than 1%, but could be more because of how dna recombines, or could be none. And even if its 1%, that's in the realm of statistical noise for DNA, where anyone from a ethnic similar population is likely to share at least that much in common, closely related to you or not. Weird. I also run a Rowe/Roe group on FB if you care to join (it's mostly descendants of Lorenzo Dow Rowe, my ggggrandfather, but we have a few others from further afield. We'd all love to hear stories of other Rowes long separated from us. https://www.facebook.com/groups/285894342631559 (it'sa private group, so ping and I'll accept you, too many unaffiliated Rowe families out there I had to keep it just for us, haha, and not an all Rowes from everywhere endeavor)

A few new additions to Huffman as I've (I think) clarified the relationship to Matilda, James, and William. (and i also added the info to Matilda and the boys profiles) It becomes kinda obvious as you track the census records that Matilda was their mother. They show up with her in 1850 (in Barbaras house), 1860 (they move in with Huffman I guess after Barbras death), and 1870. She is still living with Eliza ( Huffmans wife) in 1870, 7 years after his death. William lives with them, and James lives next door with his new wife, lol. I'm guessing it was a situation where everyone pretended Huffman was their father to avoid the stigma of an unwed mother and bastardry, and after a few generations everyone just assumed they were his sons. It's been kinda cool untangling all of this stuff. I untangled a similar situation with Francis Marion Roe.

Same. The only similar images I've ever seen are Holocaust victims and famine victims from Ethiopia. :-( On an unrelated note, check out L.D. Rowe if you get the chance. All the additions I've been making elsewhere has been sort of extra as I hunted down stuff for this guy and the rest of my direct line from him (he's Huffmans 1st cousin 1 removed). From what I've figured out so far, who you fought for in 1861 came down to which county you were in, Pike or Morgan. All of the cousins down in PIke went Union, all the ones in Morgan went the other way, lol. I'm still waiting on a historian who is researching a book on Sid Cooks guerrillas to send me copies of some docs he found on this guy. (he's older and doesn't know how to scan and email, hahaha)
