DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Hugh or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
  • Hugh Smith: Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 111 markers, haplogroup I-M253, FTDNA kit #IN52970
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:

Hi Hugh,

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!

Sheena - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator

Hi - Yes I would like to continue as a scotland project member. I am interested in working on the categories, but was told I needed to join the wikitree categories team. However I was advised that the wikitree category team is waiting for a team leader? In the meantime I am working on my Murdoch and Jamieson Name Studies and One place Studies for east Ayrshire parishes of Auchinleck (ancestral home), Ochiltree, Old and New Cumnock. I am spending more than 150 hrs per month on these scottish profiles (many $'s on SP images). Currently my interest is 1600-1800 (OPRs) , so these are the profiles I work on and have not commenced level 3 of the Tartan Trail..... Cheers... Hugh

Hi Hugh

Thanks for your reply. I've asked Amy to get in touch with you about categorization in Scotland

All the best Sheena

It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hi Hugh,

Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. I wanted to thank you for your work on English Profiles and particularly your work in Orphan Trail.

These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the project leaders for everything you do.

Joan

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As I always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Guy Constantineau - Wikitree leader

Hi Hugh, Thank you for the note and question!

Have you joined the England Project or one of the other subprojects listed under the United Kingdom Project?

I do not see that you have joined the project, have the project badge or added the project tag(s). When you add a project tag you get all notifications of activity within the project.

You are welcome to contact the project leader and ask your questions about the project.

Hi Hugh,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

It looks like England would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Adding the tag to England will help you get updates about activity for that project.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Hi Hugh,

Under the Find menu at the top of the page, you will see "categories". As long as you created the category "correctly" you should be able to find it. The other way to find it is to go to a profile where you added the category and then hit the link of the category
